Title: HTWMI to have private workout with Dolphins Post by: che boludo on March 21, 2011, 12:39:54 AM Mark Ingram / Dolphins | Looking to arrange private workout with Mark Ingram (http://www.nflhuddle.com/2011/03/20/mark-ingram-dolphins-looking-to-arrange-private-workout-with-mark-ingram/)
Quote The Miami Dolphins called University of Alabama RB Mark Ingram this past week to arrange a private workout with him, reports Barry Jackson, of The Miami Herald. Somewhat expected. Miami has the 15th pick and may lose both Ronnie Brown or Ricky Williams this off season to free-agency. THTWMI would be a great pick-up for them to give them a talented power back who can pick-up the block, catch out of the backfield, and carry the ball 20+ times if need be. They have some other needs like strengthening their pass rush and improving their secondary (specifically replacing Chris Clemons at safety) which may compete with HTWMI for the selection spot, but I think it would take a major slip by one of the game changer type DLmen or possibly the availability of Cam Newton (who I don't see as a replacement for Chad Henne exactly, but a multi-use player for them..especially in their wildcat formation that they run) to keep our Heisman trophy winner from heading to Miami as the possibilities of losing Brown and Williams will prove to much to pass on the best RB in the draft. Like I said, I think the only thing that could preclude it is if they get a sense that they will retain either Brown and/or Williams in free agency. Then, I think they may finally decide to get rid of Chris Clemons at safety and take Rahim Moore to boost their secondary. Also, 15 is a tricky position as they may get tempted if some other top talent slides to mid-first round. Specifically, if any of the better DLmen in the draft drop that far, Miami could use the boost in their pass rush to give Cameron Wake some help who was left to carry the load for them. But, I really think the Dolphins will take him. Good for him too. Great local and a team that is a few good trades/draft selections away from being a real competitor, especially if Henne can finally have a break through year at QB. Title: Re: HTWMI to have private workout with Dolphins Post by: ricky023 on March 21, 2011, 11:39:37 AM I think Mark could go to the Dolphins. It would be a good choice and good weather. I would be a Dolphin fan. RTR!

Would love to see him in Baltimore (Wonder what would make me say that?? ???) but ain't gonna happen with Ray Rice playing so well and another Bama back (McClain) getting carries as well. Dolphins would probably be a good fit for him.

I like the Dolphins, always have, and hope they get him. And it should be a good pacle to have success. Their team is young and improving. This is the question on my mind can wherever he goes open holes for him? RTR!

Cause you know he can hit the hole if it's there. RTR! Title: Re: HTWMI to have private workout with Dolphins Post by: che boludo on March 21, 2011, 11:06:19 PM Ok if he goes to the Dolphins can that O-line protect him like it is suppose to? This is the question on my mind can wherever he goes open holes for him? RTR! Their OL could get there, but it isn't there yet. Mostly due to inexperience as only 5 teams in the league had a group that totaled fewer collective games of experience for its starting OLmen. With Brown and Williams taking the carries the rushing offense was second from last in YPC and 3rd from last in rushing TDs in the league. Both of which could indicate they simply aren't getting their RBs the looks they need to be more productive. On a good note, they were top in all of the NFL's OL power stats that measure percentage of rushes on 3rd or 4th down with 2 or fewer yards to go that achieved a first down or TD. Also includes rushes on 1st-and-goal and 2nd-and-goal from the opponent's 2-yard line or closer. So, the ability to get a push in short yardage situations apparently exists, but I think they need some help or a few more games under their collective belts to build experience as individuals and a unit before the are ready to really start opening lanes for their RBs. They did pick up Richie Incognito (the NFL version of Ryan Pugh) last year to help open some of those running lanes one way or another. He was voted the league's dirtiest player and just signed an extension with the Dolphins...maybe he can help out HTWMI if he doesn't go bankrupt from the fines first. Title: Re: HTWMI to have private workout with Dolphins Post by: che boludo on March 22, 2011, 05:43:49 PM Miami Dolphins have plans to address tailback void (http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2011/03/miami-dolphins-have-plans-to-address-tailback-void.html/comment-page-2#comment-465825)
Quote Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano admits his team has a very detailed plans on how they will address the tailback position. He just doesn’t intend on sharing them. full story and video here (http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2011/03/miami-dolphins-have-plans-to-address-tailback-void.html/comment-page-2#comment-465825)... Dot 1: Sparano confessed the Dolphins will remain a ground-and-pound team, and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about it. Dot 2: It seems the likelihood BOTH free agents, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams will be back in 2011 are slim. And it doesn’t really sound like Sparano’s excited about re-signing either veteran. Dot 3: Sparano specifically wants two tailbacks who complement each other, and that’s not Brown and Williams. The Dolphins hope to find a tailback who has breakaway speed, and the type of ability to take a dump-off pass to the house. Sparano used what Lions Jahvid Best did against the Dolphins in last year’s loss as a prime example. ... Even if the Dolphins go the free agent route this regime will likely double-down by selecting a tailback or two in the draft. ... When asked about Alabama’s Mark Ingram, who is the top rated tailback in the 2011 draft class, Sparano said “we’ve done our homework” with a coy grin.
