Hard to believe CRP is 70 years old. My uncle and cousins lived right across the street from him in Petal, Ms when he was growing up and they were all good friends. I think my uncle, who is 84 years old still stays in contact with him.

It ticked me off when he left for Tampa Bay. Why would he leave a NY Gaints program in great shape (won Super bowl with Bill Parcells 2 years later) and then bolt for the Bucs? Ray also ticked me off when he when for a tie at LSU. We scored with very little time remaining and he kicked the extra point rather than go for two. I never understood that. I was at the game and even the LSU fans that that was wierd. :dunno:

Ray was handpicked fro the job by CPBB, and he had some success, never did figure out why he left. Ray I think crapped in his mess kit by not keeping his fences mended with the ALA HS coaches, and I think he put the Athletic facilities off limits to former players. In a Sports Illustrated article, even his wife admitted he did not have much of a personality. Wish him well. |
