Title: Chick filet Bowl payout question
Post by: Terrie1959 on December 16, 2011, 05:31:06 PM
Tuscaloosa news has a Bowl page and under the Chick filet Bowl it shows this payout to the schools:
PAYOUT PER TEAM:  $3.967 million to
Virginia; $2.932 million to Auburn

Why would aub get a million less than Virginia? (serious question guys)

Here's the link to the "Bowl-O-Rama" from Tuscaloosa news.

http://datacenter.tuscaloosanews.com/bowl-o-rama/?tc=ar (http://datacenter.tuscaloosanews.com/bowl-o-rama/?tc=ar)

click on interactive map and then you can click on each bowl game and get info.  That's where i got the info about the payout (not pay OFF!) LOL

Since Auburn is already in Georgia. Auburn's travel expenses to the Georgia Dome is much less than Virginia's travel expenses from Charlottesville Virginia to the Georgia Dome.

HTH!

According to Wikipedia the ACC gets 3.967M and the SEC gets 2.932M.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick-fil-A_Bowl

The barn has to sell 16,000 tickets and Virginia is responsible for 18,000.

Just guessing about the payout difference but the ACC puts thier top non-BCS bowl team in the game. The SEC puts their 4th best non-BCS bowl team in the game. Had Va Tech not been selected by the Sugar Bowl the barn would have played them. Very unusual for ACC to get two BCS teams.

Seems it was also in Cam's contract to receive future bowl earnings.
