Title: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: Jamos on December 18, 2011, 08:26:11 AM Recently I posted that Bear Bryant's best friend, Jimmy Hinton, had died. Today the Tuscalossa News has a feature article about Jimmy Hinton written by Robert DeWitt, outdoors writer for the News.
As you read the article you might pick up on how similar Bear and Jimmy were to each other in many ways. Hope you enjoy the article as much as I did, it brings back many memories to me of the years that Bear and Jimmy enjoyed each other as friends. http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20111218/NEWS/111219728/1213/SPORTS?Title=Mr-Jimmy-was-one-of-a-kind Title: Re: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: XBAMA on December 18, 2011, 08:38:36 AM great story J , thanks

Good stuff. It's sad to see those die that have built so much during their lifetime. There will come a day when the kids will be the owner of Sedgefield when their mother dies and we all know what happens when the kids get it. :( Hopefully that won't be the case here. Title: Re: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on December 18, 2011, 08:26:16 PM Recently I posted that Bear Bryant's best friend, Jimmy Hinton, had died. Great story about Jimmy Hinton. Also a glimpse into hunting in Alabama which is one of my passions in life. Side note: I purchased a couple of those "Alabama Rigs" for bass fishing from Simmons Sporting Goods. http://www.thealabamarig.com/ Talking to the sales pros, anglers are using rods that are 7 foot six inch long and very stiff action. I bought 2 of the Abu Garcia 7'- 6" stiff rods. Simmons had a sale for $ 99.00 a peice, but since I have a 16 year old son who is a hunter and fisherman, I bought 2 rods. They has them on sale buy one for $99.00 and get one free deal. I already have some 500 and 6500 Abu Garcia reels. The sales staff said the fishermen are using 68 pound test braided kine so I purchased two boxes of that as well. That will make 2 good Christmas presents for my son and me! LOL! :tinfoil: Title: Re: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: Jamos on December 18, 2011, 08:32:14 PM Recently I posted that Bear Bryant's best friend, Jimmy Hinton, had died. They were using the heavy duty rods as you stated and the fishermen were worn out from throwing it when the tournament was over. Let me know how you do with it. As I stated previously, Jimmy and Bear were very similar in what they stood for and the way they did things, that's why both were great champions in what they did and supported in life. Title: Re: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: XBAMA on December 18, 2011, 09:07:58 PM I remember hearing a story about Coach Bryant and one of Mr. Jimmy's dogs named Wrapup

Title: Re: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: Leewillie on December 19, 2011, 01:23:58 PM Got to admire and respect a man who loves dogs
Title: Re: Mr. Jimmy was one of a kind Post by: BAMAWV on December 19, 2011, 02:12:45 PM Got to admired and respect a man who loves dogs I think you realize he was not talking about your average run of the mill house dog. In general, the first day in the dogs life is when he is 'shot over'. If gun shy, the new owner usually shoots the dog. Not the kind of POS dog you find indoors, waiting for treats and petting. |
