Title: "Alabama football notes: Safety Robert Lester, practice notes, etc"

Several Alabama players with eligibility remaining are expected to skip their senior seasons in 2012, but none has come out yet and proclaimed he will go pro.

Running back Trent Richardson, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick and linebacker Don't'a Hightower are the juniors mentioned most often as 2012 NFL draft prospects.

In its second practice of the postseason, second-ranked Alabama (11-1) practiced in full pads for the first time. It worked indoors for the second consecutive day as it continued to prepare for the Jan. 9 BCS Championship Game against top-ranked LSU (13-0) in New Orleans.

The Crimson Tide will practice through Friday and then will take a four-day Christmas break.

It takes a phenomenal safety to crack the first round.  Barron may not himself (though I hope he does).  Lester is probably more like a 3rd-4th round pick at this point, in my very amateur opinion.  He would most likely benefit from another year under Saban.  Obviously the NFL scouts acknowledge that as an asset.

Robert Lester definitely needs another year in the system. His stock will go up next year.  Of course, some people prefer a bird in hand (money now) to two in the bush.

I hope Robert stays. We are going to be young next year back there. He would be the leader of that bunch and could be the man that us more. I know money is important, but moving up the stock is too. Good luck with your choice. RTR!
