Title: Name my company
Post by: ssmith general on March 21, 2011, 03:31:05 PM
Winner gets some e-cred.

Here are some of my initial thoughts.

Alabama bush hogging

Bush Hog Alabama

Alabama farm and estate services (or one or the other)

Alabama upkeep

You get where I am thinking, but I am open to any and all serious idea's and I will laugh at the silly ones.

To start we will offer bush hogging and loader services.  Which will include small tree removal as necessary to clear an area.  Soon we will offer backhoe services and french drain design and construction by a licensed hydrogeologist.  the latter will be pricey and may or may not take off.

Ok, lets hear the criticism and ideas please.

By using alabama do we cut out mississippi, georgia, ten etc business unnecessarily?

To truly have effective marketing, I need to get a feel for the area and what interests people in St. Clair County and surrounding areas have. You mentioned farmers as the prime target for the business. What mediums are they more likely to read/listen to/watch? I would guess TV would probably be a poor option,  country music  or talk radio would probably be a good option. A billboard in a strategic location would do well also. Even posters or flyers may work well if the restrictions for posting them aren't too strict. What do you think?

I dont like the play on police, but it gives me an idea.

What about southeast land control, or property control, or basically something using the word control??

I also like the the word "solutions" although, that seems a little cliche.  I hate cliches.

Land Baron Brush Services

Boss Hog Brush Services

Miguel's Brush Services.  (Just for consideration.  I read an article that there has been an emergence of non-latino owned businesses marketing themselves as such to take advantage of the stereotypes and inherent bias in some US industries, specifically lawncare and house cleaning services.  The idea was that people are naturally inclined to seek what they consider to be the best service for the best price.  The rise in illegal workers in those industries has created a bias that leads people to contact them first thinking they will receive the best price for services.  Just pick up a little spanish and speak with an accent.  :)

Right now we are leaning towards 'Comprehensive land solutions, llc, as the company, and will divide by technical and field services, probably start off DBA Southern Bush hogging, brush and Privet removal or similar.    We are working on the legal side of it over here.  It's going to be a few days.  I need to get some more seat time anyway and get more efficient.

I forget that I am a licensed professional geologist, so we are also going to offer certified french drain design and construction, property drainage solutions (design and build), trenching and piping for utility, remediation system subsurface manifold installation (this is very specialized), and small backhoe services.

Is that too much?

I think we divide it nicely between technical and field services the technical aspects wont confuse the hillbillies?  What do you all think?  You're input is important to me. TIA

Bush Hogging = Simple name

Technical Services = High Tech (fancy) name

JMHO

I agree that is exactly why the bush hogging will be DBA southern bush hogging or whatever.  But for the LLC I want to leave myself open to do more work.

If I needed a few acres cleared I would call a company named Southern Bush Hogging over a fancy name. Fancy names look like a big company and leads me to think I will pay more. I think the rednecks you will be dealing with think like me. I know cause I am one.

Bush Hogging = Simple name
Technical Services = High Tech (fancy) name

You can make the LLC whatever you want with the DBA whatever you want as well. Southern bush hogging sounds good, but "Land Service" is much more encompassing IMO. Stay away from cutesy or gimmick names and slogans. You want to be taken seriously.
