Title: "Report: Boise's Petersen not interested in Penn State vacancy" Post by: Chechem on December 26, 2011, 05:27:41 AM Quote Shocking development, eh? It was reported late this past week that Penn State has continued its pursuit of Boise State head coach Chris Petersen, with one member of the school’s search committee visiting the coach in Idaho twice in a span of eight days recently.... http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/25/report-petersen-not-interested-in-penn-state-vacancy/ Title: Re: "Report: Boise's Petersen not interested in Penn State vacancy" Post by: Chechem on December 26, 2011, 06:17:29 AM Apparently the PSU folks told Mullen, "No thanks." He'd have been a winner there. Someone can make a real name for himself by getting them past the darkest hour that maybe ANY university has faced. But for the serious football coach that wants to reestablish the program and win,-- this job is not for you!

Someone can make a real name for himself by getting them past the darkest hour that maybe ANY university has faced. But for the serious football coach that wants to reestablish the program and win,-- this job is not for you! True. But the search committee, I'm told, has nobody in charge. So the individuals have mixed opinions about including inside/outside candidates, former players, current coaching staff, etc. Best guess is 'established coach from outside', like Petersen. Apparently they are considering every campus in the country for coaching options now (well, not Boogerville). Title: Re: "Report: Boise's Petersen not interested in Penn State vacancy" Post by: BAMAWV on December 26, 2011, 07:04:04 AM The Big 10 has taken a huge hit. Imagine a judge sending a message to all that covering up this particular crime is criminal in itself. With JoPa doing time and Tressel no longer writing books lecturing the rest of us about honesty and character, the Rich Rod charges for practicing too much doesn't seem all that offensive!
Title: Re: "Report: Boise's Petersen not interested in Penn State vacancy" Post by: Jamos on December 26, 2011, 08:22:48 AM Peterson must be smarter than the other coaches out there that continue to move from job to job. If the guy is happy with where he is and enjoys what he is doing, then I applaud him for staying with Boise State and trying to grow their program to a bigger level.

Is he making progress? They lose their star QB this year, and they've got the NCAA sniffing around. But if he's happy, I agree. Kellen Moore was a very good QB for them and I think he was the big difference in the success of the team. I still don't understand their move to the Big East though.l Title: Re: "Report: Boise's Petersen not interested in Penn State vacancy" Post by: ALTideUp on December 26, 2011, 09:20:08 AM He may feel that he needs to win without Moore in order to establish his credibility as a championship caliber coach. As for the PSU job, the whole program is radioactive and that will takes years to go away. Nevertheless, though JoPa is discredited persoanally his successor must still cope with replacing the winningest coach in CFB history. The ideal candidate for this job would be another legend whose imprimature would start the reputational healing process, keep recruiting going, and win ball games. Don't laugh, but I'm thinking about a Bobby Bowden type. Ultimately they will have to settle for a lesser known outsider who will not have the weight to change the orbit of the PSU program

I think his agent is trying to get him a pay raise to "stay" at Duke. What has Cutcliffe done, one decent year at Ole Miss? ??? Tennessee Titans’ head coach and former PSU player Mike Munchak — he’s already denied any interest in the job — Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements and a pair of current coaches at the collegiate level — Wake Forest’s Jim Grobeand Duke’s David Cutcliffe – have all been mentioned as potential successors to Paterno. Title: Re: "Report: Boise's Petersen not interested in Penn State vacancy" Post by: ricky023 on December 26, 2011, 01:49:08 PM I was kind of hoping Cutcliffe might be a OC at Alabama. He works great with QB's but he is just not a Head Coach. What though, I know Coach Saban has it already in hand. RTR!
