Marty Lyons is set to return to the site one of his most memorable days in college football.

The former Alabama star will be honored Jan. 3 at the Sugar Bowl in the 7th annual NFF National Hall of Fame Salute at the Sugar Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. He was inducted Dec. 6 into the Football Bowl Subdivision Hall of Fame.

On Jan. 1, 1979, at the Superdome, Lyons is credited with the famed quote that preceded what is widely known as the "Goal Line Stand." On fourth-and-goal inside the 1, Penn State quarterback Chuck Fusina asked Lyons how far to the goal line. Lyons reportedly said, "Bout a foot. You better pass." No. 2 Alabama stopped No. 1 Penn State, and ultimately won 14-7 for its 11th national championship...
