I disagree with the UCLA statement that John Wooden was the greatest basketball coach ever. He had a great run through the Alcindor/ Walton eras. He was a very good recruiter in a place that needs very little recruiting effort. Adolph Rupp is the all-time greatest coach. When UAB first opened up their baketball program we supported it. Something else to watch on local TV channels. Went to some of the games. Any way, Bartow sent letters cocncrning the recuritment of Bobby Lee Hurt to NCAA about Coach Wimp Samderson. There were also rumors of letters concerning CPBB from CGB sent to NCAA first after Batow came to UAB.. After all that I had chosen not to support UAB. I am sure Gene Bartow helped out thousands of people and did great things for Birmingham. :tinfoil: |
