Title: Heartwrenching
Post by: ALTideUp on January 10, 2012, 10:23:38 PM
I don't know if this has come up yet but it is sadly ironic that the players who made perhaps the two biggest plays of the night were knocked out of the game on those plays. Maze trying to run off the field in spite of his injury is tough to watch. What a gutsy competitor. And CJ held on to the rock despite being twisted like a pretzel.

A lot to be proud of, but those two plays really stick out in my mind.

Yep, especially Maze.  CJ will be back, but Maze is gone.

I had a great time at the game, but it was really difficult to.   1) Lost wallet in Los Angeles on wendsday.  2) Flat tire on way to airport 3) Luggage got lost and had to buy new clothes.

Monday made up for everything, but it was kind of wierd having to shop for boxer shorts and socks while walking around NOLA.

Does coonass underwear have the holes in the right spots?

Yea, they both hurt to see them in pain and watch what they did for us. I think the embarrassment LSU faced will help them though. RTR!

It's always sad when players have season or career ending injuries but that is the price of playing the game of football, it is so high risk. Maze came to Bama with high expectations and he lived up to his billing, he was an impact player that could change the course of a game everytime he touched the ball and that is how his Bama career ended. His last play I think set the pace for the rest of the game that led to Bama's victory and that is a memory he can take home with him to tell his grandchildren in the years to come and it is one that is well deserved.

Mosely on the other hand has a couple of years left but he himself has established himself as an impact player but on the defensive side of the game. He has struggled with injuries since coming to Bama but he has labled himself as being one of those players that makes game changing plays. Hopefully he will make a full recovery and be ready for spring training because Bama needs him as a leader and game changer for next year.

The shot of Maze fighting back tears right before the 2nd half kick-off touched me. He knew at that point his Alabama playing days were over.

Another player I thought about during the game was Will Lowery. He was a walk on that had a really production career. I hated to see him go down to injury earlier this year and miss this game.

I think Will spent a lot of time with Vinnie getting him ready to fill in.  I thought that Will was a senior, but from looking at the roster the other day I think he is a junior and should be back next year.

I hated it so bad for MM. When I saw that shot on him on the sidelines with tears in his eyes, I nearly welled up as well. I was just wanted to give him a big hug and thank him for all he had done in getting the team to the point they were at.

Will was redshirted his freshman year so he was a RS Junior this year meaning he has a year of eligibility left. He has already graduated and I assumed based on the comments below he will not be back. Remember he has to pay his own way.

"Just did my MRI. my ACL is torn, I am done. It was a great run, and I look forward to helping this team finish this thing off right in NOLA"

On Saturday night, Lowery wrote: "Thank you everyone so much for your support and prayers... Not how I imagined leaving Bryant Denny, but still so grateful the opportunity."

So that is why I thought he was a senior.  That makes sense.  I didn't think about him having to pay his own way.

This article about Lester coming back confirms Will Lowery will not be back.

Also departing are safeties Mark Barron, and Will Lowery, and cornerback DeQuan Menzie.
