Title: Mad Hatter loses his mind vs. 'Bama, and much of Tigers Nation with it Post by: SUPERCOACH on January 12, 2012, 10:40:47 PM Quote Twelve months from now the LSU Tigers and Les Miles may be standing on a podium at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla., hoisting a crystal football above their heads as the SEC's seventh consecutive BCS champion. That's how good most experts believe the 2012 version of college football's runners-up will be, as LSU returns most of its key starters at just about every position. At the moment, however, January 2013 is a long ways away, and most LSU fans are more focused on what happened 72 hours ago in the Superdome down in New Orleans. It was on Monday night that Miles' Tigers spent 60 minutes getting their butts kicked up and down the field by the Alabama Crimson Tide, losing the game 21-0 without managing even 100 yards of total offense. The Tigers didn't even cross the 50-yard line with the ball until the fourth quarter when the game was essentially over. http://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/16844913 Title: Re: Mad Hatter loses his mind vs. 'Bama, and much of Tigers Nation with it Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 12, 2012, 11:07:30 PM I expected this type of response from the LSU fans. If he goes 11-2 next year or worse, the fans will crucify him.

It is this way in any highly competitive sport and it will never change. I can remember the days of Coach Bryant and as great as he was, there were fans calling for his head after some games and seasons when Bama didn't win as the fans thought they should have. I will say though, I think the pressure from the fan base toward their teams success today is much more intense than I have ever seen it. What if Bama had not beaten LSU in the NCG, how many Bama fans and sports writers would have been after Saban's job, it's just the way it is. ;) Title: Re: Mad Hatter loses his mind vs. 'Bama, and much of Tigers Nation with it Post by: 2Stater on January 13, 2012, 05:40:49 AM I'm not surprised at the response from the LSU Nation, it hasn't been too long ago I heard some of the same criticism from the Bama Nation, I think it was November 5th against this very same team. He just forgot to bring his lucky horseshoe with him Monday. :D Actually, you are correct. Certainly there were grumblings in the late 60's when Bama teams were average, at best, by their standards. I even remember dissention after the '73 Sugar Bowl Loss to ND, and that was when the UPI poll had already crowned Bama the National Champion. If I remember correctly, the AP had just changed from ending their voting prior to bowl games, while the UPI had not. Title: Re: Mad Hatter loses his mind vs. 'Bama, and much of Tigers Nation with it Post by: 2Stater on January 13, 2012, 07:22:58 AM (http://Even LSU wide receiver Russell Shepard got himself in the mix, tweeting barely an hour after the game had finished "OMG I played 3 plays...." Shepard's frustration didn't end there, either, as he would return to his Twitter account on Wednesday night to announce that he was leaving school a year early to enter the NFL Draft. Shepard then further expounded on his reasoning by tweeting "Me having 14 catches for only 190 yards this year is not my fault people. I only dropped 4 balls all year. So whose fault is it now?")
So Shepard is leaving too? I had not heard about this until now. It's getting interesting in Red Stick. It really may be an implosion right now.

It is so sweet after the smack LSU fans talk. They are so flippin' arrogant and it's sweet to see them imploding. Saban made mistakes on Nov 5 but NO WAY I'd throw him under this bus for that. Nobody's perfect but he is still THE BEST college coach right now.
Jamos, you will be happy to know that some of the LSU fans :tinfoil: think REC is behind this all. You guys get around!!! Les Miles is a good coach but honestly I think he bought into his own mystique...the mad hatter can pull it out no matter what. It's kind of like when you never study in high school but make all A's and then you go to college and realize that no matter how smart you are you are not gonna write a great essay about the dawn of Western Civilization if you never bothered to sit in on the lectures. Some things just can't be "winged". Wonder if Saban broke Les permanently a la Mack Brown??? BTW, I think they are losing a lot more players than we realize...both on the NFL declrations/senior class and in the potential players on the incoming class. Title: Re: Mad Hatter loses his mind vs. 'Bama, and much of Tigers Nation with it Post by: pmull on January 13, 2012, 08:32:40 AM I understand the LSU frustration right now. It is not that they lost it is how they lost. It is one thing to play well and get beat by a good team but LSU was never in the game. Miles and the LSU staff had no Plan B for when the option and wide receiver screens did not work. If my team had 6 weeks to prepare for the biggest game of the year I would expect them to be prepared and ready to play. LSU was not prepared to play this game. That would tick me off too.

How?? He's an idiot surrounded by great players. He's the Dale Brown of college football.
