But really, IMHO, anything more than a four team playoff lasts too long. The four-team tourney isn't perfect but it is more inclusive than the current system. And I don't buy the idea that conf champs automatically get in. The underlying assumption in that thinking is that all confs are equal. We know that's not true. (Heck, even divisions in confs aren't equal.)
So I think there still has to be some ranking system to pick the top four. The left out #5 will frequently scream but at least it will be an argument about who's #4 instead of who's #2. We won National Championships when AP and UPI decided them. We are winning National Championships in the BCS bowls. We'll win National Championships in playoffs. Post by: BAMAWV on January 15, 2012, 06:22:30 PM SC or maybe Jamos, -not sure who-- brought up the fact that the SEC and ACC voted for playoff (+1) system 5 or 6 years ago and the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10 and Big East voted it down. I have been spreading that on every board that I'm not probationary.
Now with the SEC winning 6 in a row (and having to play against each other for a little competition) they are wanting to change anything and everything.
