Title: Winston still in play?
Post by: carl childers on January 16, 2012, 07:22:31 PM
Read a tweet from Danny Sheridan that Winston is saying it is 50/50 with Bama and FSU and that Bama is confident in getting him. Of course, DS lost some credibility with the bag man fiasco, but wouldn't that be a coup to get JW along with the others in this class? I feel is JW flipped, this class would be superior to the 2008 class.

I wonder though if CNS would allow him to play baseball. I keep hearing that he wants to be able to do that AND play football, and that it is not in stone yet that he will choose college over the majors.

I keep forgetting that. It would be a considerable gamble to burn a scholly on him.

This is a numbers game, and coach is fully aware of this. Remember when we all thought that Star Jackson would be the be-alland end-all for us. Didn't happen. If there is a whiff of "and baseball to"in this kid CNS will not bother a about him another minute. The odds would not be in his favor.

The flip side is that for every Star Jackson there is a Will Lowery. Recruiting Blvd is a two-way street.

Sounds like Bama's dominating victory has turned a few recruits heads, or at least is giving them second thoughts.  AJ's play in the NCG isn't hurting with QB recruiting either.  (Unlike LSU, Bama can and does pass the ball when needed....)

JW is probably waiting to talk to the new OC.

I hope so, that would be hard for a young QB to turn down, NFL QB Coaching AND Playing experience.
