Title: Hey, Jamos Post by: Leewillie on January 16, 2012, 08:36:27 PM I know National signing day is the next big event on the football calendar, but the baseball season is only about a month away.
Title: Re: Hey, Jamos Post by: Jamos on January 16, 2012, 08:53:20 PM Yes it is and I'm all excited about the group that has committed and I'm thinking there might just might be a couple of surprises yet to come on NSD.
Baseball is here as well as softball and all of this to go along with the basketball team, it is great to live here in T-town and be able to enjoy all that is happening with the U of A. Oh, better not leave out the NC gymnastics team had I. Back to the baseball team, I'm excited to see what they do this year. I see them practicing a lot and Gaspard seemed to be happy with the new recruits that he got this year, hopefully there's a couple of good pitchers in the group. Title: Re: Hey, Jamos Post by: Leewillie on January 16, 2012, 08:59:13 PM I dowloaded the baseball roster and it lists 43 players, wow!
I hope we have a dominate pitcher or two in the bunch. I'm hoping to be able to get down there a couple of times this spring. I missed out completely last year. Not gona let that happen again. Strengths and weaknesses?

HL, Jamos can give you a better overview than I can but I will give it a try. We had a great recruiting year. We got help everywhere. We have some good incoming pitchers that are expected to play right away. Dugas coming back for his senior year is a great help. I found the link below which will give you some information from CMG from Fall practice. http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/092611aaa.html Title: Re: Hey, Jamos Post by: Jamos on January 17, 2012, 11:32:41 AM Bama lost some key players last year but returned the one man that will be the leader of this team, Dugas. He is no doubt one of the best players in the SEC if not the best, but he will need help from the returners from last year to get the new incoming players adjusted to SEC baseball.
Bama will have some young ones on the mound this year and hopefully they will get off to a good start but you never know how good they will be until the season starts, practice can only show you so much. Defensively I think they will be ok with some starters returning to help that cause. If I remember correctly I think Bama has changed brand of bats that they were using in the past, seems as though the old brand was somewhat of a dud and Gaspard changed to the bat that the teams that were hitting the long ball was using. Injuries always seem to hurt Bama somewhat, especially with the pitchers, but if these guys can come in and stay healthy, I think Bama can make some noise this year and maybe make it to the post season tournaments. At this point in time it's just a guess as to how good they will be until they get a few games under their belts. Roll Tide!!!! Nike let us out of that contract. I think we are going with Easton bats this year. Nice overview Jamos.
