Title: Men's Basketball and Vanderbilt to Meet in Coleman Coliseum (6:00 ESPN2)

Vanderbilt travels to Tuscaloosa with a sterling 3-0 record in league play and a 13-4 overall record after defeating Georgia, 77-66, on Saturday for its seventh straight win. The Commodores have four players averaging double figures with John Jenkins' 19.8 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting (44.7 percent from three-point) leading the way.

"They have two of the top five scorers in the league with [John] Jenkins and [Jeffery] Taylor," UA head coach Anthony Grant. "Then [Brad] Tinsley is another guy who obviously has the ability to score and [Festus] Ezeli gives them a presence down low both offensively and defensively that most teams across the country would want. So I'm certainly very impressed with their team."

What's your thinking on this game?  Looking at their schedule, Vandy has lost at home v. Cleveland State, Xavier and Indiana State, lost on the road to Louisville. Their biggest win seem to be on the road v. Marquette, which also lost to LSU.  It will be a tough game, but I think Bama takes them.

This year, Vandy reminds me of Miss. St. teams, where they start the season slow, but improve as the season progresses. They are becoming a very good team. Having said that, I don't think Vandy has played a defense like Bama's. If that swarming "D" comes to play, and JG & TM beat them down low, I think Bama wins by 8-10 points. If Bama's outside shooting shows up, maybe more.

yes, it could come down to 3-point shooting.  As long as Bama can limit Vandy's 3s, then it should win.

I like our team and the fact we are playing at home. We play much better at Coleman and like all teams in the SEC we get the calls at home. I think we will win but it will not be easy. Vandy was missing a couple of starters due to injury early in the year. They are back now. They are very balanced with everyone they put on the floor can score, especially the 5 starters. They have won 7 in a row. It will be a difficult game but I expect us to play well and get the home win.

pmull pick is 68-59 good guys win at home.

Roll Tide!

Yeah, the missing players was the point I was going to make. If we let them hit their 3's it could be bad news. However, we are at home, we really need this win, and the team has been looking good overall.  If Lacey and Releford hit some 3's with Mitchell being Mitchell and Greene playing good under the basket, we will win this game. I pick somehting like 68-65 Tide. Is Cooper still hurt?

We must make this an uptempo game.  Can't let this be a half court game on both ends or they will shoot our eyes out.  We will need to keep the press on and risk giving up a few layups to keep the pressure on.  I think we can expect this, given CAG's comments about how he doesn't like how we have played latetly.  But you can't always force you will on the other team.  Steele needs to get inside Jenkin's jock when he get off the bus, and not leave him alone until he crosses the state line headed back to Nashvegas.
