Post by: pmull on January 21, 2012, 08:14:56 AM
Early tip-off today against No. 2 Kentucky. We need to put the Vandy game behind us and play well today.

The University of  Alabama men's basketball takes to the road for the third straight Saturday as it visits No. 2/2 Kentucky. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CST on CBS and on radio via the affiliates of the Crimson Tide Sports Network.

A Tide win in Rupp would make my weekend. We would need to bring the perfect storm offensively and even play over our heads defensively, but this can be done.

I agree with you. A win today would be great. It is much more fun watching the other games today if we have a huge win this morning. We have to play great defense and shoot a high percentage. If we can keep that Rupp crowd quite it will help.

Especially that Ryder c-word. She has a huge mouth!

Tide getting a few breaks and not cashing in, but staying in striking distance. They are not used to playing against this level of athletes.

Gueye has done well. Blocking baseline. Lost track of whether or not UK guy had picked up his dribble. Shooting fouls well.

Nick Jacobs doing a great job and JG is playing down low where he belongs. RTR.

Best game I've seen Jacobs play.

However, to be fair, I've been away.  :tinfoil:

Turn this game on if you are not watching it.  Down by 3 with about 6 minutes to go.

I hate I missed it. Sounds like they played much better after the beatdown by Vandy. Maybe this will give them some confidence.

You are right about that SUPERCOACH. We were so close today, but the little cost us down the stretch (missed free throws, turnovers, and rebounding). Hopefully we will learn from this and win the next one. Roll Tide! Guys played really good today though. Came out with a lot of fire, and had a good day from the field.

Alabama played well enough to beat most of the top-30 teams.  But they've got to protect the ball better, hit free throws... (ad infinitum).

I thought we played well today. Kentucky has won 47 in a row at home. They have not lost at Rupp since Coach Cal was hired. We had our chance today. It was a 2 point game with 1 minute to play. Give Kentucky credit they made they plays when they had to. They hit 100% free throws down the stretch. We played a physical and gave Kentucky a very good game.

No moral victories here. We have had a tough three games. The schedule softens up now. It is very possible that we can get on a 5 or 6 game winning streak. I still like this team. We are 2-3 in the SEC but it is still possible to go 11-5 which would give us a 22-8 record heading into tournament time. Our SOS heading into today's game was 15. Playing the No. 2 team will only make that stat more impressive. We still have a top 30 RPI. We are in good shape. No more room for error, it is time to get on a winning streak.

I would have liked to have had TM in full TM mode yesterday. Our program is moving forward, judging by how our athletes matched up with UK's. The future is ours. RTR

Tennessee beat UConn and Arkansas beat Michigan. But watch Baylor jump UK in the polls. >:(

I thought our freshmen matched up well with their freshmen. Lacey and Jacobs both had good games. Our freshmen will be back next year, they will have a new set of freshmen.

I don't know what TM problem is but it looks like he has a bad attitude to me. I am sick of watching him stand around the perimeter. He needs to move without the ball and work for his shot. He is supposed to be a big time player. Big time players step up in big games. He has played his worse games of the year against Vandy and UK. I think sitting him on the bench for a game or two will do him good.

I would like to know what CAG was telling him after he fouled out. Bet that had to do with attitude. It is like he and JG hold a grudge for CAG bringing in the hotshot talent to compete with them. They both need to learn they are competing with other teams and not their own.
