Title: Jim Harbaugh Post by: Catch Prothro on January 23, 2012, 09:01:30 AM This guy can coach. First with San Diego, then an academic school like Stanford, then almost makes the Super Bowl in his first season in the NFL, with a previous 6-10 team.
I like in particular what he does on offense (good defense too, but Saban already has that covered), using a power rushing attack and multiple Tight Ends who can block or catch the ball. This type of offensive scheme seems well-suited for somewhere like Bama, with its shut-down defense and powerful running attack. I'd like to see Saban/Coach Nuss steal a thing or two from this playbook -- putting other team's LB's to the test in cover mismatches. That was one of LSU's weaknesses, LBs in coverage, which Bama was able to exploit in the NCG. Maybe it is the next wave. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Post by: pmull on January 23, 2012, 09:13:07 AM He is a good coach. I think our offense already looks very similar to the 49'ers. Strong running game with short ball control passing game using the tight ends and crossing routes over the middle.
His brother is not too bad either. Both lost in their league final but we were real close to having two brothers coach against each other in the Super Bowl. Bama's offense looks very similiar to the NFL teams that played in yesterday's championship games. Alabama uses multiple tightend sets with power runners. It could just as easily be the 49ers and Ravens in the Superbowl. Those games were that close. Raven's reciever had winning touchdown knocked out of his hands and 49er's dropped their chance at winning. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Post by: ALTideUp on January 23, 2012, 03:33:55 PM So if you are the 49ers you have every tight to be pissed. You lose one game to a 7 loss opponent late in the season and, boom, you're out of the superbowl. That's just not right. Let's focus on all the games the 49ers won. If you focus on wins the 49ers have the more impressive season than the Giants. So how do the 9ers not get a shot at the super bowl?
