Good news, Vols fans! No, not in regards to recruiting, although I’m happy to report that not a single assistant football coach has left the program today! [gives thumbs up]

This good news is on the injury front, and your mascot is out of surgery and in the process of recovery.

The 8-year-old blue-tick coonhound – his friends call him Smokey – had his torn ACL repaired and the operation went off without a hitch. The surgery was performed by Dr. Darryl Millis at the UT Veterinary Medical Center and took approximately 2.5 hours.

I'm not going to do it  :-[

so I'll say , get well soon Smokey

Smokey first had problems in UT's second game last October. After his injury was diagnosed, he underwent regular therapy for the rest of the season, and his activities on game day were limited.

I hope the dog gets well. I had something similiar happen to a dog back in 1997. Had to put him down because of his injury and age.

I thought it was sad when UGA died a few years back from a heart condition. That UGA was like only 4 years old. I think he was the one that snapped at the barn player. Good boy!

Smokey first had problems in UT's second game last October

after reading that sentence I found myself asking
"I need to look it up and see what position he played"

then it was like , dang CDD is pulling out all the stops , whats next ? Air Bud is a Vol ?

I'm sorry , I have a warped sense of humor sometimes ... I love dogs

glad he is doing fine , wouldn't have it any other way   :D
if I ever see him , I'll make sure to have a rawhide bone to share with him

After we put our dog down in 1997 we went 10 years before we got another one. I get so attached to dogs I wasn't sure I wanted another one.

We had a calico cat named "Pookie"! Around January 2006 a coyote got her. My neighbor found her remains in his backyard and that is what it looked like happened. She was 14 or 15 years old.

 :(

Yeah, coyotes got two cats I had at different times, and two neighbors cats. I have personally seen a coyote near my neighborhood. Love the picture of dale, great looking dog. Get another dog, its worth it. I have a chocolate lab named Sam.

Did their receiver and Smokey get a 2 for 1 deal on knees?

I had my border collie at UT Vet school a few years back and Smokey was also there for treatment. They got to sniff noses and tails but
I don' t think she got his autograph. UT Vet school is great and if you have a dog with a real serious condition I recommend it highly.

Did you have to donate money for a football scholarship or gas for the hostesses for this treatment?

I have a neighbor who took his dog to A'burn vet school 2 years ago and he wouldn't disclose how much it cost.

Well, somebdy had to post this quote, so I guess I will be the bad guy:

"Well Eli, Smokey just came out of the tunnel, and he's about 100 yards away from me now, and if I had my deer rifle I believe I could drop him, back to you Eli" -- Jerry Duncan's comments to Eli Gold just prior to kickoff against Tennessee.

I had to get something for one of my bulldogs from aubarn a couple years ago, she had an allergy to dust mites and one vial of that crap was a couple hundred dollars.

I remember the quote. It was funny. I miss Duncan's and Stabler's comments.
Don't here funny stuff like that from Chris Stewart or Phil Savage.
