Alabama Crimson Tide Why they’re here: It’s impossible to discount Tide coach Nick Saban and his staff’s ability to develop players. Two years ago, the Tide had nine new starters on defense, and finished third in the nation. Are we really going to doubt the loss of seven starters on both offense and defense? Why it could change: At the end of the 2010 season, after Alabama destroyed Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl, Spartans QB Kirk Cousins stopped Saban on the field and said, “How did you guys lose three games?” The talent will be there for Alabama; will—like 2010—the motivation? Also, I had no idea that the Rivers kid (Philip's brother) ended up in Whoville. Stephen played two years at Austin before transferring to Athens where his father was the QB coach. He was a decent HS player but he had very few offers coming out of HS. Philip was not heavily recruited as a QB but everyone wanted him as a LB or TE. I will be surprised if Stephen ever starts for LSU. I remember you posting in the past that SR was not a major talent and yet he ends up at LSU.
