Title: "Izzy Gould, B’ham News bashes Alabama once again"

Two days before National Signing Day, Izzy Gould, a beat writer for The Birmingnam News continues his assault on UA athletics.

If you remember, it was Gould who held hands with Paul Finebaum wannabe Kevin Scarbinsky last summer in the “T-Town Menswear” story, one of the biggest non-stories in the history of Alabama reporting.

That story mysteriously broke near SEC media days and the beginning of fall practice, though the actual incident had been introduced, investigated and dismissed by the University of Alabama the winter before.

But the facts of that story didn’t stop Gould’s and Scarbinsky’s vigor to “find something” on Alabama....

Here is the Izzy article that came out Monday night about Collins' recruitment.  It isn't worthy of its own thread.  Really, Izzy?   >:(

But this is what we’ve come to expect from the feminine hygeine product called The Birmingham News. A “hit piece” on Alabama recruiting two days before National Signing Day, while The News, again, run by an Auburn graduate, continues to lob layups at the school in Lee County.

Good article.

It's sad that articles such as this has to happen. First of all there is no rule, as mentioned in the article, to be broken. The rule that they referenced to does not affect football, I think it is baskeball, and a little investigation into what they are writing would have resolved any doubt as to if Bama had broken a rule. To me this type of journalism is only there to put thoughts into peoples minds that something bad has happened and it's a shame that this type of journalism is permitted without some type of recourse to punish the folks that continue to print such stuff.

As far as Collins mother is concerned, I smell a rat with all of her concern for a son that hasn't lived with her for years. It seems as though she may be the one with the egg on her face for maybe promising her son to someone without his knowledge of it. I also wonder what the value is in a promise like this?  ???

I've been wondering the same thing. The way she has freaked out, it makes me think she took a prepayment for something she can't deliver.  ???

The newspaper business has become competitive to the point where yellow journalism has become the norm. A so called journalist can make a name for himself only by creating separation from the crowd. So to whore oneself to the rust belt crowd or the left coast, an Alabama/Gator poser can cater to them by writing derogatory articles about the Tide. If I was his neighbor he would soon tire of having to argue his way from his car to his house each day. Liars cannot hide behind "Freedom of the Press".

I didn't see the article being a slam.  He presented the interview in a reasonable manner, not adding much too it, positively or negatively..  If anything, the article just further made her look like a kook...Izzy didn't need to say anything to convey that point.
