The barn offering four year athlectic scholarships is like an off brand car manufacturer offering 10 year warranties. Whatever it takes to get a few suckers to sign on the dotted line. Since the Colonial Bank well went dry the boogers are having to come up with new gimmicks to lure recruits to West Georgia. At this is legal.

CNS does more for his players than the Chiz could ever think to do.

Chiz took the high road to #17 ranked class yesterday only 1 year removed from winning a title. Hard to sell the barn on highly rated players unless there is money involved.

Many coaches do the same and honestly it is a bad situation for the kids and coaches.  Second, AU would have done the same thing if they had the opportunity.

Recruiting for Division-1 Football is a business.  It's unfortunate in many ways, but it's true.  Get used to it.

I think an early signing period like basketball has would help both the students and the coaches. With these high profile kids waiting until the last minute to make thier decision you run a huge risk if you do not have a back up plan in place.

CNS mentioned he favored an early signing period in his presser yesterday.

Chizik offered 4 year scholarships because he knew his class this year wasn't nearly as good and hoped that helped sway some to the barn.

Good point. 

Look, I support the spirit of the Aub's 4-year offer.  But the reality is that players develop best when pushed to compete.  A top-tier team these days must have commitment and dedication by players.  It's nice to think they're at the school for academics first, but the reality is few of the top players care about academics.

That said, I repeat: "This is a business, and scholarship offers are business decisions."

I say BS on the article. If you stay out of trouble and do the right things that scholly will be there all 4 years. A medical RS still allows for the kid to go to school on the university's dime. Remember education is one of the main things CNS preaches. Look how many academic all SEC we had this year.

I don't understand how josh can call CNS the king when in fact the school he is
praising has signed 2.2 more players per year over the amount Alabama signed for the last five years ...

apparently he over looked the fact that Auburn is second only to Troy and Miss.   :dunno:

This guy has no clue to what he is talking about with the 4 year scholarship offer and and the two players that Bama offered a greyshirt.

A 4 year scholarship is a bad, bad no-no. When a school has to play the numbers game that the NCAA has established, they should never bind themselves with multi year contracts for these players. I think Auburn needs to do this, nothimg like self destruction.  ;)

Concerning the two players that were offered the greyshirt option, I can guarantee you that the greyshirt option had been covered with these two players way before yesterday. I still say that both of them would have been better off in the long run coming to Bama, a little patience never hurt anyone in the growing up process.
