"Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts," Irsay tweeted. "Team statement coming on Friday."

This is about to get ugly, and it's about to get ugly quickly. There was some reconciliation of feelings between Irsay and Manning before the media arrived in Indianapolis earlier in the week. That almost put the Colts long-term situation at quarterback on the backburner when it comes to Indianapolis Star front pages. It hasn't.

Irsay's tweet, on the other hand, speaks directly to Manning's lack of health, as it pertains to the Colts decision to pick up his $28 million option.

Irsay is going to lose this PR battle, big time. If I owned the team I would not pay Manning and just say it's a business decision. Explain to the fans that money is limited and say what a great player Manning has been. Irsay is trying to get too slick and it will backfire on him.

I have no idea if Manning is healthy or not. I would rather see him retire as a Colt when he is on top of his game rather than be traded from team to team with a bad ending to an otherwise fantastic career.  He is 35 and had a good run. Maybe it is time to retire?  :dunno:

He should retire. If he still wants to be around football, become a QB coach in the NFL.

I just hope he doesn't call AD Hart at UT after Dooley is gone.

I would hate to see him at UT because he would be probably be a great recruiter.

Otherwise his career might end like Joe Montana's did at the Chiefs.
