Well he is a good player but there are rules for the team for a reason. I have to support CAG with this because he knows what he is doing. The one thing I see now is it is going to take a little longer to fix what we have than I first thought. RTR!

This comes as no surprise.  Unfortunate, yes, but no surprise.

How many more exCMG players do we have until we are rid of his influence?!?!?!

I applaud CAG for making this statement that no one is more important than the team. TM has been selfish and petulant the entire season, and I am glad to see him go. That kid needs to get his head on straight and work out his issues before he plays again. And I don't think this will hurt the team as much as people think. All TM has done lately is float around the perimeter waiting for someone to put up a shot so he can run to the rim and dunk it. It seems that his goal is to make it on the highlights every game. His defense was ok, but not great. Nick Jacobs is a much better player and it looks like Gueye is making good progress. I look forward to seeing what this team can do when they play together without the whining and pouting.

^^^This^^^ We've all seen TM pouting and loafing and CAG is doing the right thing. It will probably cost us going to the dance, but I think giving Jacobs and Gueye much more playing time will pay dividends next year.

CAG sat J Green down last year for a few games and he came back with a good attitude and helped lead the team to a 12-4 conference record. I think this move helps the team. All us Monday morning coaches on this board have been wanting TM sat down for awhile. I hope he gets his act together and comes back. He can certainly help the team. If not, we will be fine without him. We will not miss his defense. We will miss his 13 points, someone will have to step up.

I applaud this move by CAG. We have been playing like crap. Maybe this will get the team re-focused and we can make a run toward the NCAA tourament.

With all due respect to CAG, to twist a phrase, this may be "too much too late". In retrospect, had coach done small doses of this earlier on, TM may have gotten the message, straightened up, and been available to help the team in the crucial home stretch. A big public suspension at this point in the season may make matters worse rather than better and result in the loss of one of our most (potentially) valuable players.

I wonder if there have been "small doses" in private, but they just didn't do any good.

I would have to guess you are right coach. But it may be that TM had it in his head that "coach can say what he wants but he would never sit me". If he had gotten benched (publicly, for a couple minutes at a time) when this stuff started happening he might have straightened out by now. No matter. I trust CAG to get the best he can out of the team down the stretch. Roll Tide.

Per Karle on Fox Sports tonight, CAG said that the lenght of the suspension depended on how Mitchell's practice went today.  :dunno:

Whoa!! That says volumes. In other words, unless he starts practicing hard, playing hard on defense, listening to his coaches, being a TEAM player, and hustles his rear off, he will continue to sit.
