Title: Alabama Team Report-February 8th; updated with more articles**
Post by: Marshal Dillon on February 08, 2012, 08:17:52 PM
Great rundown and info.

Since recovering from a four-game losing streak that put Alabama in the bottom half of the SEC standings, the Crimson Tide has climbed right back into the race for one of the top four spots in the conference.
A 68-50 manhandling of Auburn on Tuesday -- accomplished with No. 2 scorer and rebounder Tony Mitchell back home in Tuscaloosa serving an indefinite suspension -- stretched the Crimson Tide's winning streak to three games.

It also got the Tide (16-7, 5-4 SEC) back above the .500 mark in the league.

Alabama beat Georgia on the road and LSU at home in its first two conference games. After that early success, the Tide lost road games at Mississippi State, Kentucky and South Carolina along with a home game to Vanderbilt to fall to 2-4 in the league.

But with wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss at home and the romp at Auburn, Alabama has cause for optimism as it looks forward to a weekend trip to LSU.

I hope they are just now hitting their stride and they go on a big run like they did last year. I think the team is up to the task of beating LSU in red stick and UF at home. Arky on the road has always been a tough task, but I think Bama is the better team and they have a chance. It's going to be fun to watch the rest of the season.  :popcorn2:

The game against Auburn is a microcosim of what the Tide has to do to continue winning.
We have to hit some outside shots and rebound better. Our defense is excellent and we have a good inside game. We have some depth with Lacey, Eblan, Gueye, Engstrom,
Steele (who started in place of Mitchell), & Hankerson.

I think the Auburn game was a big motivational game for the younger players and a proving point for Green and Mitchell if he was watching. These young players have good shooting skills but are lacking the confidence it takes to be consistant with their shots. When Hankerson threw up those two in succession and made them, I think a light went off in the head of the other young ones, because other outside shots followed. The key to the outside shots though was how they were made available, working the ball inside and out, screening and making cuts to the basket.

I liked what I saw and I am very anxious for Saturday night to get here and see if there is a continuation of what happen in the Auburn game. RTR!!

We all agree we have to shoot the ball better from the perimeter. I think CAG is going to rotate the young guys in and out of the line up to see who has the hot hand. Hankerson has been the guy the last two weeks. Cooper who struggled early in the season is looking much better. Lacey and Randolph must step up their game or they will lose their playing time. All these guys are good players it is just taking longer for them to develop into SEC level players than we hoped. Winning breeds confidence and the barn blow out was good for this team. We need to beat LSU in Baton Rouge this weekend. Then we are looking at a huge game next Tuesday at home against Florida. We have worked ourshelves into a position to get this season back on track.

Roll Tide!
