Title: Jordan Jefferson questions game plan; *** updated re Lee
Post by: Jamos on February 09, 2012, 07:57:45 PM
I don't think LSU will ever get over the woodshed spanking that Bama gave them in the BCSNCG, they are still pointing fingers at who was the blame for the loss. Someday they might realize that they weren't the best team on the field that night, there's no one at LSU to blame for anything.  ;)

JJ is a grammatical genius: "There was a lot of things that we should've did..."

"You did real good [sic], JJ."

Him being scared to death had nothing to do with the game plan.  He reminded me of Torretta every time he came to the line of scrimmage.

Advertised as the game of the century. Here's the understatement of the century...

"We kind of fell short in that game."

These guys say otherwise.  Some of them reported that JJ "was purportedly at Harrah’s a couple of nights & drinking heavily" before the game.  They blame him.

I liked the comment at the bottom:

"the play calling error was letting jefferson play"

Betty White as George Jefferson   .......sounds like a Lifetime movie. I love it!!!

I've said it before, but it is amazing how bad the game plan was AFTER you get your butt handed to you on national T.V. I guarantee that the the Who coaches and players would have been hailed as geniuses had the situation been reversed.

I was actually over on Tiger Rant earlier today looking at their posts and they are still butt-hurt over the game.

My take on all this is that we are not getting the full story. Seems obvious that after George started having all his trouble, the rest of the team started calling for Lee to get in the game. "Give the ball to Jarrett! Give the ball to Jarrett!" Around the end of the third quarter, Lester responds "Jarrett say he don't want that ball!"

(with apologies to Jerry Clower)

I know who is to blame for all the LSU game mess. I think you spell it "Crimson Tide Players." RTR!

I mentioned before the BCSNC (during Dec) that JJ would play (solely), because Lee was likely ineligible.  He wasn't going to classes.

I talked to my LSU buddy last night.  He was my source.  He said Lee went to Les Miles during the fall semester and told Les, "I can't go to class and play football both" (apparently it was too stressful).  Right then Les decided he wouldn't play in the NC, despite Lee taking additional credits between semesters to regain eligibility.  Les lost faith in Lee as a leader.

Was it a bad LSU plan or a great Alabama defensive plan. I think the results in the picture below would be the same regardless of what LSU tried to do.

Exactly.  LSU didn't lose the game.  Bama went out and won it.

Coach Miles varied his play calling. He ran to both sides with similar success.

Did you see that I posted (somewhere) about Lee not being eligible until after he took an interim course?  Apparently (according to my inside-LSU buddy), Lee went to Les and said he couldn't pass his classes and prepare for football both.  Les wasn't going to play him after that, even though he was eligible for the game.

IMO Les did the right thing by not playing him, if that was the case. Lee showed a complete lack of character by telling Miles that, if it happened that way.

I saw your post about that several days ago. I found that interesting. There was talk on Finebaum prior to the game that Lee had not been attending classes and I had supected that he was not eligible. There had to be a reason not to at least give Lee a chance.

According to my buddy (someone whose word I trust about anything LSU), Les Miles was a bit misleading with the media when he announced that "all of the players are eligible for the BCSNC game".  He delayed telling that story until Lee had completed the interim class and made the necessary grade.  So, there was an eligibility issue during most of the practice time for the BCSNC game, meaning Lee might have not practiced.

Lee had not gotten any mop-up playing time in the last few big wins so rumors were out that he was not eligible. Your friend probably has it right.
