Title: Bad Decisions Turn Tide Into Team Turmoil
Post by: Marshal Dillon on February 13, 2012, 10:54:35 AM
Interesting.

Selfish. Entitled. Irresponsible.

Pick a word to describe four Alabama basketball players whose behavior turned what should be an NCAA Tournament team into Team Turmoil.

Anthony Grant sounded public warning shots for weeks. Whatever happens now is largely on Tony Mitchell, JaMychal Green, Trevor Releford and Andrew Steele after their suspensions in the past week.

It's not publicly known what these players did or didn't do to warrant indefinite suspensions. In a sense, what happened really doesn't matter

So, these suspensions got me thinking.
The Aubs say they offer 4-year scholarships.  If their players break team rules and are dismissed from the team, do they lose their scholarships?

Good question. I would guess they keep the scholly, which would really blow up in their sanctimonious face.

Can't believe even the Barn would be that stupid.  A scholly is a kind of contract and is should spell out the obligations of the reciepient, which should include some equivalent of a "morals clause."  If the paperwork doesn't read that way, I bet it will change in the future.

We need our team to grow up fast. They need to build off of what they did in the 2nd half of the LSU game. Being a small team, they really need to work hard on their perimeter shooting and hustling to the ball to have any chance against UF.

It hard to figure how such good athletes would let down their teammates in such a time of need. I just don't know but CAG will deal with it. Now, I love CAG attitude toward being straight up in life as well as the game of Basketball. RTR!

The truth will come out one day, Preacher, and I think that whatever that reason is, will come up under the heading of "selfish".

There is a clause in the scholarship that says it is for four years provided they maintain their grades at a certain level and do not have any discipline issues.

Yep. That will be the key if the 4 players stay suspended. We scored 45 points in the 2nd half, but it was LSU. If we can hit 7 or 8 three pointers against Florida, plus hustle, play good D, and get some rebounds, we have an outside chance against Florida. We need Cooper, Jacobs, & maybe Randolph to play huge.
