This is my farewell column, the last thing I will write for the Press-Register, The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times and al.com. On Monday, I start a new job in Fort Lauderdale as a Miami Dolphins beat reporter for the Sun Sentinel.

I'll give him credit for the stories he did following the tornado, but his regular UA coverage was crap. He won't be missed.

Well said cbbama.  I never thought he "got it" about Bama, how we alumni and loyal fans feel about the place.  It's more than 'our school.'  Interestingly, in this last column, he kinda sounds like he's beginning to understand.

I have little use for al.com   Not enough "real" journalism there anymore.  Why, for example, could no one over there gather the real facts about the Philon situation?  Mostly, they, and Izzy, seem content to let readers rant, and call that "sports coverage."
