Title: No. 1 Softball Races Past Maryland, 19-1
Post by: Jamos on March 02, 2012, 06:54:03 PM
It wasn't much of a game but it was another win for the team. Maryland came into the tournament with a 10-2 record that included 2 wins against ranked teams but had already lost big to UMass in the first game today. One of the more interesting things about the Maryland team is that two of it's assistant coaches are former players at Bama, Charlotte Morgan and Kelly Kretschman. It wasn't a very pleasant homcoming for hte two.

CPM emptied the bench in the 2nd inning which again gave the freshmen another chance to get some live experience. Jadlyn Spencer, Iowa girl, has pinch hit twice this season and has seen two pitches and both were hit for a home run. Ryan Iamurri, all 4' 10" of her had an inside the park homerun, Spencer's homerun followed hers.

CPM may have to have surgery on his broken nose that he received last weekend from a line drive into the dugout.

It may have been an easy win but I still like beating the ACC in anything.

Wow, 12 runs in the first inning.  that's strong no matter who you play.
