TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team will play four games this week, opening with the Auburn Tigers in a non-conference game at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. The non-conference game between Alabama and Auburn is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and will be televised on CSS, with Joe Davis and Joe Beckwith providing the commentary.

Alabama is coming off a 2-3 week and is now 5-6 through 11 games this season. The Crimson Tide dropped two of three games in a weekend series to Tulane. Alabama won the middle game, 6-2, after losing game one 9-7. Tulane won the final game 7-2. In nine games against Auburn, Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard has posted a 4-5 record against the Tigers.

The team is very young but I think they could be playing better than they are. Baseball is like any other sport, mental preparedness is a must to be successsful and I just don't think the players are mentally there yet. CMG will have the chance to show his coaching skills with this group and there are many games to play yet so hopefully things will turn around for them.  RTR!!

The freshman starting pitchers look like the strength of the team so far this season. They will only get better. We need bullpen help. Our relievers have to get getter than they have shown thus far. The biggest disappointment to me is the returning starters. We are not any better at the plate than we were last year. We are not scoring runs. I thought defense would be a strength of the team. We make too many errors. Last nigth the barn stole second base with ease. Once Reeves was late getting to the base and the ball sailed into center field. Another time CMG called for a pitch out and we still let the runner reach base.

We are young but that is no excuse. Players come and go every year and you must recruit to have quality players ready to take their place. We are struggling to win games now. It is only going to get harder as we enter SEC play. This team needs to improve quickly or we could be looking at our worst year in a long time.

You are right Jamos.  I haven't seen much to be excited about yet.  Anemic hitting, inconsistent pitching, a catcher who can't make a quality throw to second on a steal attempt, four errors, and a clean up hitter with a .235 batting average.

What's even more disheartning is that Auburn is probably the worst team in the conference other than Bama.

I hope they improve as the season goes along, but time is running out, SEC play starts next week.  Could be a long and painful season :(

I totally agree.  I had not read your post before I made mine, but it looks like we see things about the same way.
