The University of Alabama baseball team will play three opponents on hot streaks in three days this weekend at the Alabama Baseball Classic.

The Crimson Tide will face East Carolina tonight, Louisville on Saturday and Oral Roberts on Sunday. East Carolina has won four of its last five games, Louisville is ranked in the top 25 with six wins in its last seven outings and Oral Roberts has won five in a row.

Bama had decent pitching for a change. Charlie Sullivan gave up three runs in 8 innings with no walks.  Keller relieved in the 9th and had a 1-2-3 inning.

We've got to find a way to score when we have runners on.

I'm begining to dread the start of SEC play. :(

Bama is very weak at the plate. I'm hoping it is just a slump they're in and they will work their way out of it.

I have been impressed with the freshman pitching so far. Our hitting has to improve. Maybe we sould break out the old Nike bats. It can't get any worse.

Alabama vs Louisville

UL scores an unearned run in the 1st with 1 hit and an error. Bama comes to bat in the bottom of the 1st trailing 1-0.

Alabama goes down 1-2-3 in the 1st and does not get a ball out of the infield.

Freshman Taylor Guibeau is pitching for Bama.

UL scores 2 runs in the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead. They were helped with 2 walks and a wild pitch that let a run score from third.

Bama has runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. We follow that wil a strike out and double play from our #2 & 3 hitters.

UL leads 3-1.

Bama gets 2 runs in the 4th and leaves the bases loaded. The score is tied 3-3. UL coming to bat in the 5th.

UL leaves two on base but fails to score in the 5th. Game tied 3-3 with Bama coming to bat.

Bama scores 3 in the 5th to take a 6-3 lead.

UL fails to score in the 6th. Bama coming to bat with a 6-3 lead.

Bama goes down 1-2-3 in the 6th. UL coming to bat with Bama leading 6-3.

Justin Kamplain comes in to pitch the 7th inning for the Tide. Guibeau pitched 6 solid innings giving up 3 runs with only 2 of them earned.

UL scores 1 run on a solo HR but the Tide still leads 6-4. Bama coming to bat in the bottom of the 7th.

Bama goes down 1-2-3 in the 7th. UL coming to bat trailing 6-4.

UL gets 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 Bama errors to tie the score 6-6. Bama coming to bat in the bottom of the 8th.

Bama gets 1 run in the 8th to take a 7-6 lead. We need 3 quick outs and this game is ours.

6-7-8 hitters coming up for UL.

Bama wins 7-6. Nice win over a top 25 team.

We play Oral Roberts at 2:05 tomorrow.

Good win for the Tide. They scored the winning run on a squeeze bunt, not a bad idea when you're not getting any hits by swinging at it. Roll Tide!!  #+

It wasn't pretty, but it was a win.

 We have  several fundamental weaknesses
 
We make too many errors

We can't throw out base stealers

We are weak in hitting, especially the long ball

I'm still blaming their problems on not being mentally prepared, c'mon coaches you've got to do a better job.  ;)

We beat the #20 team, that is improvement. We got good starting pitching. Middle relief gave up 3 runs in 2 innings but the closer did his job. We had 11 hits. We still left too many runners in scoring position but I will take 7 runs.

We made three errors, two were throwing errors on pitchers. I am sure they are trying to keep runners close to the base since we can not throw anyone out. UL stole 3rd base several times and that has to stop.

It was the 1st time this year I enjoyed Alabama Baseball.

We need to score a few insurance runs to take the pressure off the closer in the 9th.

Hubbard pitches the ninth, he walks 2, then an error and gives up a hit and 2 runs score, Bama now trails 3-2 batting in the bottom of the ninth.

We let this game get away. We should be able to close out a game with OR.

We play a good Southern Miss team on Tuesday at home. We play Samford at home on Wednesday and travel to Arkansas to start SEC play on Friday.

What a shame to have wasted a great pitching performance by our starter Pilkington.  He pitched 6 innings, gave up 4 hits and 1 run, relievers Turnbull and Keller both pitched a shutout inning. 

I posted over in the softball thread that the girls hit the same number (4)  of homeruns in todays game as the boys have hit All year
