When you have the 240th-ranked scoring offense in the country, progress isn’t easily identified.

Points haven’t come in bunches for Alabama this season, but its defense filled the gaps and powered the Crimson Tide into its first NCAA tournament in six years. Keeping pace with one of the nation’s best offenses in Friday’s second-round game creates a new challenge for coach Anthony Grant’s group.

Creighton (28-5) scores 80 points a game while Alabama’s managing 64.9 a night. Over the past five games, that number dipped to 59.5. Still, the Tide’s leading scorer feels better about the offense now that he did a few weeks ago.

“I think we’re finally getting it together,” senior JaMychal Green said. “Coach Grant just put in a couple new plays that fits us and it’s a better fit for our offense. I think the freshmen, they have confidence in themselves shooting the ball, and once they knock down a couple shots, it will be a good game. I think we’ll be hard to guard.”

Would any of those new plays include actually hitting a three-pointer? Because that would certainly be new.  :dunno:

I would have felt bettter if they said each guard was taking 100 outside shots during practice and stressing rebounding.

Probably trying to give Creighton something to worry over,-- anything to worry about defensively. But when they look one direction, the Tide strikes the other, with points off defense being a Crimson animal that feds off itself. Roll Tide Roll.

From what I have read Creighton only has one true post player. He is a Renardo Sidney (Miss St) type that is tall and heavy. He is a little slow. J Green and Jacobs need to stay out of fould trouble and take advantage in the paint. If we get him in foul trouble we will have a huge height advantage.

Creighton can shoot a high % but they turn the ball over a lot. They are concerned about our defensive pressure and Releford, Steele, Randolph and Lacy's ability to cause steals and quick baskets.

We can not get in a high scoring game with these guys. If we let them start hitting 3's they can light us up. We need to play solid defense and make them earn everything. We also need the ref's to let us play physical. Beating and banging will be to our advantage, touch fouls to Creighton's advantage.

We have not not been to the NCAA tournament since 2006. We do not need a quick one and done. We need to beat Creighton and see how we stack up with North Carolina.

I'm guessing you picked Bama over Creighton. Good luck with that!

I only picked them in the first round.

Bama vs Creighton is a 8 vs 9 game which is a pick'em.

BTW, since the bracket locked I can see your picks. You picked us too. Good luck with that!

So you think the Tide can hold Creighton to 58pts. but your not sure about the UNC Tarheels? You realize that may sound crazy to outsiders?
