We've had a couple of disappointing years by our standards which we created," Stansbury said. "There's no one to blame for me for that. I'll take responsibility for that. And you've heard me say it -- I want those expectations. We don't run from them."

Stansbury, 52, said he and MSU athletics director Scott Stricklin met for more than two hours on Wednesday morning, and both of them agreed the veteran coach would likely retire. Stansbury said he slept on the decision Wednesday night, and felt comfortable on Thursday morning.

He was forced out. He was Miss State version of Mark Gottfried. He had a few good years but it is time for a change.

Nobody could have gotten his players to compete this year; just a bad crop of idiots.  So much talent; no heart.

Good luck to him.

He wasn't retiring, he was "retiring".

Yeah, but he bought recruited those guys. These are the kind of players he has had before, but they just would not listen to him.
