Wow, what great weather for a ballgame and the Bama bats responded in a big way. It's been a long time since I've seen Bama hit the ball as hard as they did the first two innings. IF CPM had not started pulling the starters in the second, I don't know if Ole Miss would have ever gotten them out. If not for the 3 errors in the 4th, Bama would have played a very solid game. Oh yes, CPM had another "meating" in the pitchers circle after the 3rd error and he always puts his hand over his mouth so people can't read his lips, too funny. RTR!!  :clap:

You are correct. The softball team has for several years played in pink for breast cancer awareness.

A little trivia for those of you not watching it on ESPNU, Ole Miss softball has only beaten Bama twice in 51 tries. The last time was in the 2nd game of a series at Tuscaloosa in 2005.

Bama got another win tonight but it had quite a different twist to it. Jury really had a bad night pitching, she just didn't have it tonight as all pitchers have a bad day occasionally.Locke came in and did a very good job until she started to tire. But my kudos goes out to Lauren Sewell tonight. here is a young lasdie that hasn't had too many chances to do something great for her team but she was given the chance tonight and did a fantastic job shutting Ole Miss down. This is the best that I have ever seen her pitch and I think that VanBrakel is doing a good job with her.

We will see some more games like tonight when Traina isn't starting, but we will probably see a couple when Traina is starting, that is why it is so important that Sewell and Locke develop into a tough closer. Jury is a freshman and SEC competition is very tough but she has to develop an offspeed pitch and get more movement on her other pitches if she is going to be a successful starter.

The game was closer than it should have been, thanks to two great plays by the Ole Miss right fielder and centerfielder. That was two great plays that they made to take away a homerun.

Any of you that live close enough and want to have a good time, come on out to the ballpark tomorrow afternoon and watch the girls play, it's the cheapest you'll ever pay for great entertainment, $5. Roll Tide!!  :clap:

Bama has very little trouble sweeping Ole Miss. Nice week of softball including the road win at Oregon on Tuesday.

BTW, the last Ole Miss pitcher that we scored 5 runs on is a freshman from Decatur. She went to Austin HS.

Thanks again, Lee for the updates. The ladies are kicking some butt so far this year. That puts them at 6-0 for a fast start in SEC play.

According to my score card, CPM used 19 of the 20 players on the roster in today's game.  Only pitcher Leslie Jury did not play today.

You don't really keep a score card do you?

Sort of...not an official score card but more like game notes.  I track what the batters do.  My dad was a huge baseball fan and I remember him listening to the Cardinal on the radio and keeping a score card (a home made one).  I guess that's where my interest in baseball really started. Old habits are hard to break,

There were 7 freshman Bama girls sitting in front of us today and when Lu came in to pitch, they went wild. Lu happens to be their best friend. They were really yelling it up for her and we had a good time teasing them a little.

I was a pitcher in HS and at West Alabama (Livingston University when I was there). I know how to chart pitches and track hitters. When I was kid playing Dixie Youth baseball I always stayed at the park, even when my team was not playing. I always tried to get them to let me in the press box to keep the offical game book.

My Dad loved baseball too. Some of my best memories of him are when he and I would go see the B'ham A's play at Rickwood Field.

Bama played pretty good today and Ole Miss was their worst enemy and that formula only spells bad news for them. CPM does a good job in getting all the players in the game when the mercy rule has a chance to end the game and plus it has really helped this year in knocking the rust off the upperclassmen that don't start and gives the younger ones more playing experience.

Jackie Traina got off to a bad start today but really gained control of her pitches after the first inning and it was no contest after that. Ole Miss has some good hitters, as we saw yesterday, but Traina is better.

Tennessee comes in here Wednesday and that will be a test for the Tide, playing against the upper tier of the conference can be a little tougher. Roll Tide!!  :clap:

Tenn will be a little different from KY and Ole Miss. I'm glad that is at home. We split with them in Knoxville last year.

That will be a double header with the first game starting at 4 p.m. It will be televised on CSS.

When Tennessee comes to town, Bama will be facing the two best pitchers we've faced this year.

The Renfroe sisters played on the same summer travel ball team as my grandaughter for several years.  I have watched them play since they were 12 years old.

I thought Ivy Renfroe was the best high school pitcher I had ever seen, but younger sister Ellen seems to be doing as well or bettet at UT.  They are both outstanding young ladies, but I hope Bama will be able to handle them next Wednesday.

Yeah, UT brings a whole different ballgame with them. I think I've seen the older one pitch and she is good.
