Title: Saban Considered Other Jobs in January, Chose to Remain at Alabama Post by: pmull on March 26, 2012, 08:07:13 PM Quote Speaking about the new contract extension approved this afternoon, Alabama coach Nick Saban said he was contacted about other jobs in January. But, with consultation with wife Terry, he decided to spend the rest of his career at Alabama. Saban did not identify the outside interests who made inquiries. http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2012/3/26/2904757/saban-considered-other-jobs-in-january-chose-to-remain-at-alabama Title: Re: Saban Considered Other Jobs in January, Chose to Remain at Alabama Post by: 2Stater on March 26, 2012, 08:22:35 PM Quote Speaking about the new contract extension approved this afternoon, Alabama coach Nick Saban said he was contacted about other jobs in January. Seriously though, I think he was only being courteous to those that offered him another job. It didn't do any damage to him getting another contract extension either. He's 60 years old, has a giant machine primed and running great at Alabama, so why leave and start over again? I think he's very content with his empire at T-Town.

But I think there may be another consideration for CNS and that is legacy. Coaches who leave a lasting legacy leave it at one school where they are long tenured. Saban's jumped from MSU to LSU to the NFL before coming back to college. He's had great success at Bama but not yet long tenured enough to reach 'legacy' status. At Saban's age, if he made another move he would probably have to coach another 10 years at one place to leave a legacy. I kinda doubt he wants to commit to that.
I also have always thought that Ms. Saban really likes Tuskaloosa and doesn't want to move again. Whatever, I'm just glad he's stayin'. Great for the UofA and grrrrreat for recruiting. If by some miracle Mrs. Terry wants to move but I can't see it remember what she said on arrival, our next move is to our lake in Georgia. RTR!
