Unfortunately I know very little about IPads - new or old. From what little I do know, it sounds like you did well for yourself. What do you hope to the be its primary uses? I expect its primary use will be for me to be able to sit in my comfy chair at night and surf the web. Now I have to lug my notebook computer in their and plug in the power source, which is a real hassle. I'll move some of my pictures and my Itunes to it and just see what things the apps have to offer. Also, I plan to add my recipes to it so I can just stand it on the kitchen counter and refer to them. And finally, I'll download books from B&N and Amazon that I currently cannot download on my Sony ereader and use it as an ereader. I think it will be great for traveling to take in place of a computer. I don't plan to connect the 3G except when necessary. It can be turned on and off on a monthly basis. We have a wireless network in the house so I definitely don't need 3G at home. Do you have any creative ideas?
