Title: Alabama leads SEC with 48 on Academic Honor Roll
Post by: pmull on April 25, 2012, 08:17:08 PM
Forty-eight student-athletes from the University of Alabama were named to the Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday, tying UA with Georgia and South Carolina for the most in the SEC.

The Tide was led by the men's swimming and diving team with 18 student-athletes making the list, while the women's swimming and diving team features 13 honorees. The recent NCAA Champion gymnastics team from Alabama boasts 13 student-athletes on the list as well.

Anthony Grant's men's basketball squad at Alabama features three Academic Honor Roll members, including Carl Engstrom, Charles Hankerson (who has since transferred to Wyoming) and Trevor Releford. Women's basketball's Kristin Bush also made the list.

Great achievement. It seems like every year they are in this position. The athletic reputation at Alabama seems to be equaled by their academic excellence as well.
