Title: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: cbbama99 on April 26, 2012, 07:55:18 PM I guess his old butt has nothing else better to do than denigrate up-and-coming RBs. He may have been one of the greatest of all time, but he seems to have a real stick up his butt now that he has gotten older.

Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: BAMADCHAMPSHIPS on April 26, 2012, 08:14:19 PM I think Jim is really trying to say "TR will look merely ordinary with no Oline to block for him." :dunno:
Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: Terrie1959 on April 26, 2012, 08:22:20 PM I was REALLY hoping that Trent would not be selected by them. <sigh>
Hopefully he can leave soon and go to a team that has class... (yes I realize that Jim Brown isn't the team but still....) Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: BAMAWV on April 26, 2012, 08:25:02 PM Jim Brown was pretty good...at lacrosse.

Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: Leewillie on April 26, 2012, 09:48:21 PM Jim Brown has been an opinionated a**hole for 50 years. Just what I was thinking. Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: ALTideUp on April 27, 2012, 07:52:50 AM He is talking out his azz. Thus, TR will put an end to that talk by doing what we do here.
Do I have to say it? TR will make his azz quit. Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: cbbama99 on April 27, 2012, 08:19:42 AM He is talking out his azz. Thus, TR will put an end to that talk by doing what we do here. Do I have to say it? TR will make his azz quit. To borrow a phrase from 2Stater, Ed Zachary! Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: Catch Prothro on April 27, 2012, 08:31:44 AM I guess Jim Brown is entitled to his opinion. So he thinks Trent will be an ordinary NFL RB? I guess the question is, what does he mean by "ordinary?" I imagine he doesn't mean himself, as he claims to be the greatest RB of all time. I think he used to claim that Emmit Smith was pretty ordinary. Certainly S. Alexander was ordinary, at least when compared to the great Jim Brown.
And now along comes this kid who is faster, stronger and more humble than Jim Brown ever was, drafted by the same team where Brown played. All those team rushing stats, owned for decades by the great Jim Brown. No other RB at Cleveland has approached Jim Brown's greatness. No other RB has challenged Jim Brown's statistical dominance. But this kid has potential. I don't think Brown is unimpressed. I think Brown is afraid. This is the same thing Brown knows is going to happen. RTR! Put your hash pipe down ricky. Jim Brown is the greatest NFL RB of all time, hands down. He led the NFL in rushing 8 of the 9 years he played. He was the NFL MVP 3 times, rushed for 1800 yards in 14 games one season with a 6.4 per carry average, and for his career averaged over 100 yards a game rushing with a career average of 5.2 yards a rush, & 106 TDs. He's the ONLY athlete to be a First Team All-American in college in two different sports. He has a right to be proud and talk trash. :o Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: 2Stater on April 27, 2012, 06:46:41 PM I watched Jim Brown play. So if the other 10 guys on O can team up on 2 of the guys on D it will be a touchdown on every play.
Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: SUPERCOACH on April 27, 2012, 07:07:59 PM Maybe that is why they are getting rid of Colt. They need a tougher QB that can throw a block or two with 4 of his team mates.
Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: ricky023 on April 27, 2012, 07:10:45 PM Yes Mr. Brown has the right to blabber but when his records start crashing with Trent, he may have a different tune. I believe in my heart this is another HOF man. ops, JMHO! RTR!

Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: XBAMA on April 27, 2012, 10:25:43 PM we know TR won't break JB's all time rushing leader record because JB doesn't hold it
and he won't knock JB off the rushing touchdown record because that's be done four or five times already ... or even JB's all time touchdown record ... that's done too some kid from Pensacola holds those records I believe then the NFL chose Jerry Rice as the top player of all time , JB was second I guess the 104 yard per game and the 5.2 per carry are what TR needs to concentrate on ? all TR has to do is be just a hair better than Barry Sanders since Barry got so close that is ... :dunno: Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 27, 2012, 11:25:08 PM we know TR won't break JB's all time rushing leader record because JB doesn't hold it and he won't knock JB off the rushing touchdown record because that's be done four or five times already ... or even JB's all time touchdown record ... that's done too some kid from Pensacola holds those records I believe then the NFL chose Jerry Rice as the top player of all time , JB was second I guess the 104 yard per game and the 5.2 per carry are what TR needs to concentrate on ? all TR has to do is be just a hair better than Barry Sanders since Barry got so close that is ... :dunno: You left out the 8 NFL rushing titles, the 5 rushing titles in a row, the 6.4 rushing average per carry for one season, and all of this done in 9 years, with 4 of those years having only 12 games, and the other years having 14 games a season. Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: XBAMA on April 28, 2012, 02:06:37 PM with or without breaking any of JB's records one thing is for sure ...
Trent is not merely a "ordinary" running back . Trent is not merely a "ordinary" running back . No doubt Trent can be great RB in the NFL, if he has a good O-line. I worry about the organization. Cleveland has been a hole for players for 20 years due to poor GM, Head Coaches and ownership. Trying to compare ANYONE to Jim Bown is ludicrous. He's a loud-mouth jerk, but he can back it up. :popcorn2: Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: hscoach on April 28, 2012, 04:04:47 PM TR yards after contact along make him more than an ordinary player. Also, I think he fumbled twice in his career at Bama, another point that puts him above ordinary.

Also, I think he fumbled twice in his career at Bama, another point that puts him above ordinary. It'll be more than interesting to see how much he can drag the NFL along with him like we know he can. Sometimes, over the last couple seasons, TR just plain embarrassed a lot of defenses by refusing to go on the ground. As fpr the OL problem in Cleveland, do you see any similarity to Earl Campbell in Houston? The beating he took definitely shortened his career.Title: Re: Jim Brown says TR merely "ordinary" Post by: hscoach on April 29, 2012, 12:24:45 PM I think Cleveland uses a fullback, and look what BS did without a fullback in Detroit.
