Well I have to say this is not a big shocker to me. He knew AJ beat him out for the starting and also won a NC Trophy, so it is hard to bypass that accomplishment. Best of the future and May God Bless you in your endeavors. RTR!

Best wishes Phillip.  As long as it isn't against the Tide, win 'em all.

He seems like a good kid. I have always thought he was a good player. He had his shot and AJ won the job. I can't say I blame him for leaving. If I was in his shoes I would want playing time too. I think he will do well at Virginia or wherever he ends up.

Phillip Ely had a good spring and he will be a very good QB if he is needed. Our QB position is in good shape.

I hate to see him go, but I completely understand. Hopefully wherever he ends up he will get the starting nod and do well. If nothing else, he has a big ol' championship ring to flash around!

I'm seeing rumors of someone with a medical problem in his family.

Didn't read this at first because didnt know who Simms was.  Yeah, it looks like a family situation.  Best of luck to him.

Every time the Sims subject came up, forum posts would run of how nice it would be to have a Bama QB that could run. Also invariably, someone would have to waste the time and effort to correct the fallacy. While wishing him the best, I feel that Nussmeier and CNS could better spend their time developing Ely.

Whoa! This leaves a gaping hole in our depth at QB if AJ gets hurt. this makes me nervous.

This ^  unless he winds up at Tenersee...which technically would be closer to family... :-X

I agree.  I have not seen much of PE except in a high school football game.  I really wasn't that impressed, could have been a bad night.   To, PS it was great having you here.  I wish you and your family the best.
God Bless.

Yeah, the idea of a completely untested and very young QB stepping up to play against LSU, A&M, Missouri, etc., is someting to have major concern about. This is the SEC, not Conference USA.
