Title: Thank you to the UA community for keeping Ashley’s spirit alive
Post by: pmull on April 30, 2012, 04:18:47 PM
The Crimson White printed a letter from Ashley Harrison's (Carson Tinker's girlfreind that was killed in the tornados) parents thanking the school, teachers and freinds for keeping Ashley's spirit alive. They specifically talk about Carson Tinker. This story will put a sadness in stomach and may bring a tear to your eye.

Quote
Dave and I, Ashley Harrison’s parents, wanted to send a message to the teachers, staff, employers, friends and families of the University of Alabama.

We appreciate the outpouring of love, support, generous gifts and events that have been displayed since the death of our daughter, a UA Senior and August 2011 posthumous graduate of the University, who died in the tornado on April 27, 2011. Ashley is our love and always our light! Her smile will forever be your beacon of light and reminder of her huge heart to the many who befriended and loved Ashley there in Tuscaloosa.

yes great article , Thanks for sharing it with us ...

I remember that day so well , my niece called and told us of the
warnings issued and we all ran to the TV and computers .
she said they were taking them to the basement of one of the
buildings for their safety .
as we were talking and trying to sooth her , she was saying she didn't
know what to do , then the phone went dead .

we all started calling her but no one could get through .
that went on for what seemed like hours but in reality it was about 30
minutes I guess ...
all kinds of things were running through our minds , the worst mostly .

we were watching what looked like a tornado smack dab in the middle of
Bryant Denny which was just yards from where we last knew she
was still safe .
that day was rough ... just the short time we were out of touch was
horrible
I can't imagine what it would have been like if we had been Ashley's family .

God Bless this Family , and Carson ...

I'm so glad that your story ended in a happy way and my heart goes out to this family and all of the rest that lost a loved one on that fateful day.  :(
