Title: Alabama a year away? Post by: pmull on May 03, 2012, 02:19:24 PM Quote Earlier this week, ESPN's Travis Haney listed the college football teams that he deems to be a year away from a run at a national championship , and Ohio State topped his list. But guess who else made that list? Alabama. Yep, the same Alabama team that has won two of the last three BCS national championships. Haney makes it clear in his piece that he thinks the Crimson Tide are a legitimate contender in 2012 even with all of their personnel losses from a year ago. He just thinks they will be in better shape in 2013 to make a serious run. It's hard to argue that logic, but it's also hard to envision a scenario where Alabama isn't in the national championship race next season heading into November. Even if it loses early (possibly to Arkansas), Alabama could get right back into the mix by beating LSU at home that first weekend in November. http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/42892/alabama-a-year-away Title: Re: Alabama a year away? Everybody has one. Title: Re: Alabama a year away? Post by: ricky023 on May 03, 2012, 09:36:37 PM I see only 2 words that he did not use that might make a difference. First word, continuity is not used. We have to have that in order to win it all. Second word, confidence is something we have to have when we play the big boys of the SEC. The only thing is these come by practice and play time together.
I do however, believe we will have most of this by the Arkansas game and we will grow more by Tennessee. Then, we have the 2 big ones and we should be ready, and powerful on LSU and Auburn. Remember Auburn seems to have better chance at Alabama than they ever do at home. Seems we are one of those go there and win type jobs. ie. like we use to do at LSU. JMHO! RTR! Title: Re: Alabama a year away? Post by: crtuneman on May 04, 2012, 08:13:16 AM How can we be in better shape next year when we lose our 3 best OL next year? Plus we will be losing Nico, CJ, Jesse, Dee, Lester, Quinton Dial, and Damion Square from the Defense. I think it's either this year or 2 years down the road. But 2013 will be a rebuilding year, especially in the trenches. I have always said, and history bears this out, that I don't care how talented or experienced your skill players are. If your OL is young or not as talented, then you cannot have a good season. And the same goes for the defensive live. The game is won and lost in the trenches. Even at the pro level, with the elite QBs, games are won or lost in the trenches.

Post by: pmull on May 04, 2012, 08:37:01 AM The point of this article is we are a serious NCAA Championship contender this coming year and we should be a serious contenter the next year as well. I agree. This is college. We lose good players to graduation and the NFL every year. CNS has us to the point we are reloading where most teams have to rebuild. We have something very special going on in Tuscaloosa right now and we need to sit back and enjoy the ride because it does not get any better than this.

You reload every year when your recruiting class is consistently in the top 5. CNS has done a great job of situational recruiting to fill needs in positions with the best players possible. These are good times. We are indeed blessed. Title: Re: Alabama a year away?
