It's down to the "got to have' wins now as the reular season ends this weekend. Bama needs to win two of the three games with the Gators to clinch the SEC title. I'll be there, hope all of you that can't make it to the game can either watch it on WVUA tv or follow it on the Gametracker or listen to it on the radio. Roll Tide!!

Game underway

Gators score 1 in top of first on 2 Bama errors

Bama loads bases in bottom of first but fails to score.

After 1 complete inning Gators lead 1-0

Neither team scores in the 2nd.

Bama trails by 1

Top of 3rd Fla. fails to score

Hunt commits her 3 error of the game.

Bama has a total of 4 errors thru 3 innings.

Lucky to only trail by 1.

Fla. wins 4-1

Bama struggled with the bats and making the plays defensively.

Fla was better team tonight

Hope we are firing on all cylinders tomorrow.

So does this mean we are tied now with 2 games to go?

Title: Re: Softball to Determine SEC Championship This Weekend...WVUA tv
Post by: Jamos on May 04, 2012, 09:26:16 PM
Yes, they are now tied, Bama needs the next 2 games to win the SEC, if Bama just wins 1 game it is a 3 way tie, Bama, Florida, and Tennessee.

The way Bama is playing right now, Florida could win all 3 games, dead bats and sloppy fielding won't win you many games.  :(

Not to mention the fact that we need another pitcher to step up and help out.

Exactly. Unless Locke can throw a game tomorrow as she did against Georgia, I doubt Bama can win tomorrow. Bama's best chance for a win will be Sunday when Traina pitches again. I hope I'm wrong on all of this, but Bama just isn't playing good ball these days.

It was a good win today, this was the Bama team that we were watching win so many games and was undefeated earlier in the season. Bama beat the pitcher that they could do nothing with last night and she only lasted 2 innings today.

The difference in today's and last night's game was the umpire's strike zone. Hannah Rogers had the luxury of a very wide strike zone by the umpire last night but that wasn't the case today and Bama's batters had a much better strike zone to deal with. She was basically throwing to the same places today but they were balls and not strikes. It was very tough for the batters last night.

Tomorrow brings on a decision by both coaches, who do they use as their starting pitcher. When I got to the ballpark today and saw that Hannah Rogers was pitching for Fla, I knew then that Traina would start for Bama. Rogers was totally exhausted after two innings today and Bama seemed to be able to see the ball pretty good against Florida's reliever and other starter. Traina seemed to still have some left in her as the game ended today so it will be interesting to see if Murphy starts her and just let her go as long as she can and then use Locke and Jury to close out or to start Locke and see if she can go 3-5 innings and let Traina be the fire truck.

Either way, Bama has a lot of momentum in them after today's game but will any of it still be there for tomorrow"s game, I'm hoping so. Roll Tide!!

Where there is a will, there is a way. That's about the way I would size up Bama's come from behind series win. Friday nights game was horrific for the ladies but they rolled up their sleeves and put a blue collar rear end whipping on the Gators in the next two games.

The atmoshere was electric at the game and I want to give a big ROLL TIDE to all of the fans that came out to watch the ladies this weekend, I think it made a big difference in the Tide winning the next two games after the loss.

Jackie Traina did something that Kelsi Dunne struggled with her whole career at  Bama, losing the big games. Don't get me wrong, Kelsi was a great pitcher but she always had problems in the big games. Traina has some ice in those veins of hers because when Florida jacked out the home runs on her that inning, she could have gone to the shower but she didn't, she beat a very good team.

There were many heros for the Tide, you have to look at Kayla Hunt who had 3 errors in the first game and just had a terrible game all together. She really proved herself to be a top notch player by not pouting about what happened and she went on to have a darn good tournament. Defensively, after the first game Bama played as good a defense as they have played all year and this was the difference in Bama winning the SEC outright. There was some outstanding defensive plays made that keep Florida's speed burners off the bases as well as bailing Traina out of some tight jams when she really needed something good to happen.

Kudos to the Ladies and now lets see if we can't work our way to Oklahoma City. Roll Tide!!  #+

Great summary, J. Thanks for being our in-game correspondent this season. I hope this is the year for our lady Tiders and they go all the way.

Thanks 2, I just wish that all of you lived closer and were able to go and enjoy the games as I get to do. It's such a great atmoshere at the ballpark and is getting even better as the seating capacity keeps increasing. Traina proved this weeekend that she can pitch a lot of innings and I know CPM has to be smiling right now about this as the tournaments start. It would be nice if Jury and Locke could step up and share some of the pitching in the days to come, it would make the trip to Oklahoma City a lot easier.
