Title: LSU chancellor to 'make the case' for dissolving cross-division rivalries Post by: ALTideUp on May 28, 2012, 11:09:23 PM A bit of whining from the tabby cats on the bayou (http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/19185246/lsu-chancellor-to-make-the-case-for-dissolving-crossdivision-rivalries)
Quote The athletic director has said he doesn't want to keep playing the series. The head coach says he doesn't want the game to count for anything. And as of Sunday, the school chancellor has said he's going to the SEC's spring meetings prepared to make one last-ditch effort to get the series canceled. You know, we're starting to think LSU really doesn't want to keep playing Florida every season, you guys. But don't take our word for it, not when LSU chancellor Mike Martin told the Baton Rouge Advocate Sunday that he "will try to make the case" to the rest of the SEC that the league should abandon its current "6-1-1" plan to keep annual, permanent cross-division rivalries. There was never any talk of Bama dropping Tennessee when Alabama was struggling against some very good UT teams in the mid 90's into the 2000's.

Quote Even as various athletic directors and presidents have confirmed the SEC's 2013-and-beyond scheduling plans, the league itself has been resolutely quiet on the topic of its future schedules. Until Saturday, that is, when the league's "scheduling guru" confirmed that an eight-game, "6-1-1" model is all but official. There will probably be 16 teams next year and they will have to come up with something entirely different.
