                                             Mercer vs Bama

These notes are going to be a little different, because this should have been a glorified scrimmage with Bama walking away easily.

Congrats to Bama and the players on the win vs Mercer.  This game should have been over in the first quarter.  However, Bama was unfocused and undisciplined yesterday afternoon.

Last week Bama put up 501 yards against Miami and could only muster 424 against Mighty Mercer. Bama had 76 less total yard, 88 less passing yards, and only 11 more rushing yards.  I will give some credit to Mercer because they didn’t come in intimidated by Bama.  As a matter of fact, their DL was more physical than the OL at times.  Once on the 2nd drive 2nd play the Bama center got pancaked by the Mercer defensive lineman.   Bama also had 2 three and outs in this game.   I am not going to count the 10+ passes or runs, because they should have been plentiful, but were not.  Young had a decent game, but missed on a deep throw that was dropped, but it was behind the receiver.  His two best throws in the game didn’t count.  One was a deep ball that was negated by a penalty and the other was a throw that was the throw that was just out of the endzone.  The OL just didn’t create the push they did last week.  Mercer also seemed to give Bama problems in the passing game when they only rushed 3 and dropped 8.  To me there seem to be a couple of time where Young didn’t check down and allow the receivers to try to make plays.

Defensively they seemed to be a little more focus until the 2nd half.   Out of all the Mercer drives 6 were 3 and outs.  I will say I don’t think the 2 inside LB’s were not focused as they seem to play well.  Mercer had a total of 216 yards and most of that came on 2 drives which covered 165 yards.  Of the 216 yards, 165 of that was passing and 104 came on 2 completions which accounted for their 2 touchdowns.  Both seem to happen against busted coverages.  Also, it looked like the throw back routes could have been a problem, especially with teams that have talent, like UF.

Special teams, finally missed a field goal, but I will say on tv, it looked good.  They also scored a touchdown on special team.

They had more penalties this game than last game as well as yardage per penalty.  All phases of the game had penalties.  Many of the penalties, especially on offense, hurt the team.

I guess the biggest positives, they won as well as hearing the story of how really bad the wreck Sanders was in and he was able to come back.  I never knew the extent of the injuries and the severity of the wreck.

If they play like this vs UF the outcome may not be favorable.

Feel free to comment.

After watching the last Bama scrimmage, I had some uneasy feelings about how good the team would be this year. Today's game reminded me very much of the last scrimmage that I watched. Hopefully the season doesn't continue down the road it traveled today as the schedule gets much harder starting next Saturday.

He was a bad Bama Jama in his playing days. He just couldn't overcome his demons.  Sad

I'm surprised he lived this long with the drug problems he had, sad day.

Today is the shortest day of the year, folks.  Hope you didn't have to rush to get everything done.

Sure is, OT. I tried to find the Christmas star at sunset, but too much stuff on the horizon to the east. Hopefully, some of y'all were able to see it.

Download the App Skyview light, it is free and it is amazing what you can see at night. Its easy to use just aim you phone toward what you are wanting to see and it will magnify the object as well as identify it, Mrs. J and I have a blast identifying all those bright objects.

Good Sunday morning!

We haven't had the wind from Delta, but man, have we had the rain. Gonna take a while to dry out from this.

Well, a win is a win. I'll take it, but I'm not sure why the D had to travel to Oxford. They could have saved the gas money. Let's hope they're ready next week. That sh**show ain't gonna get it done against a team like Georgia. I know our O is probably the best in the country, but defense wins championships. Georgia has one. At this time, we don't. I have faith though.

Roll Tide!!!
A win is a win is about as correct as it can be, sure was an ugly game but there was a FEW bright spots especially Mac Jones. I thought he stayed pretty cool under all the pressure he was under yesterday, he didn't hit a panic button. Our blocking, and tackling after contact sure stunk it up. The running backs sure ran hard without the good blocking and it paid big dividends. I have to say they didn't quit but they had me thinking they were about to. It was a good win, Ole Miss is a better team and it will Kiffen and Leach are going to make it much harder to get any recruits out of Mississippi, especially receivers.

Yellowstone is closed.  "A woman who entered Yellowstone National Park illegally Tuesday morning was badly burned after falling into a thermal feature near Old Faithful.

Park officials say the woman was backing up to take a photo and fell into a thermal feature..."

More during 6-19, 2020:

These 2 Grizzlies greeted me at 6am while I was watching wolves.  The male was courting the female (she's running in one pic).  No harm;  at least we got to see them up close.

Wow, Wow, Wow, what a trip you have had.  Applause E-Cred Applause E-Cred Applause E-Cred

Mrs. J and I just looked at all your pictures and it brought back some wonderful memories of sharing Yellowstone with you last year. You really have gotten some fantastic pictures this year, made us want to pack our suitcase and head out west again. Thanks for sharing again with us. We haven't been doing much lately, Mrs. J finally got the tendons fixed in her left foot that she had been putting off for so long and we've finally reached the point that she can now walk slowly without any type of assistance. Hope the rest of your trip will be as good as as it has been already.

Yes, even without 2's presence today, it's HUMP DAY!

Hopefully 2's eye surgery will go well.  Hey, might even improve his golfballing game!

Glad I got online this morning, hope 2's surgery goes well.If it helps his golf game, I might consider getting me some of that surgery. Wink

9  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Rama Jama's on: April 08, 2020, 07:08:05 AM
Anybody in the T-Town area, please order some take-out from Rama Jama's. I think Gary may be having a tough go of it, and it's sad, because he's been feeding a lot of the community, including DCH and Law Enforcement.

I'm posting this here so it will get more exposure.

The University is like a ghost town now so I can imagine his business is suffering. I read the post about the ownership of the place and I'm not sure of who the owner is now. Gary told me once that the new owner had asked him to stay with him until he could learn the business but that has been a very long period of time. I haven't seen him at DCH making deliveries in a long time. Maybe I can go by there and see if he is there and maybe chat for a while.
10  Around Campus / Ferguson Student Center / Re: Coronavirus in Ttown on: March 27, 2020, 09:22:56 PM
It has been a tough week at DCH for all of us trying to help those needing the test for the virus. There are a lot of folks with flu like symptoms looking for medical help at the hospital and it is scary as they approach anyone as they are searching for help. We are providing the tests from 7am to 5pm daily and this will continue as long as needed. The hospital is in a partial shutdown now in an effort to provide as much protection for the employees as possible. It has been a tough task so far in trying to protect ourselves but yet provide the patients the help they need.

Keep us in your prayers as the battle goes on, hopefully things will start to improve in the very near future.

11  Around Campus / Ferguson Student Center / Re: Bison hunt near Yellowstone National Park - not a "hunt" at all. on: March 22, 2020, 08:13:09 AM
Seems kind of unfair to say to hunt them. If you hunt to me it is for the meat for food. RTR!
My personal idea of "hunting" is going to look for something (because I don't know where it is) to shoot and kill.  Definitely not sitting waiting because I know that at 9:23 a.m. a herd of them will be walking through...

It's a cluster frick for sure.
Problem is, the wolves are the only predators for bison in YNP (well, cars!).  But wolves would rather eat deer, moose, and (mainly) elk.  Bison defend themselves in mass, and so they're difficult for wolves to kill.  Thus the population climbs each year.  Public opinion won't allow the rangers to cull them, so rangers simply turn their heads at this slaughter technique.  It solves the problem, but nobody is happy with the method.
 Sad

Makes me think of the Germans and Hitler's mentality toward human beings, put them in a prison and kill them off one by one. Sad.

I hope your sermon goes well Preacher.

For the record though, with your history of health issues I would suggest that you stick to going to church at your usual pacle and don't mingle, shake hands, hug, etc. with anyone.   Socially distance yourself.  It could save your and Mrs. Dottie's life...

Does anybody else feel like they're living in a disaster movie?  Undecided

I never thought I would ever like staying in the house so much, afraid to go outside. The virus scare is one thing but the pollen is the other.
Laughing

You and LF have the same nose/sinuses.

I hate to see it rain so much but it does help with the pollen problem.

Good morning (posting from home).

Prayers to Preacher and Dottie.   Pray

@ 2:  Can't believe the golfballing course is still open, but happy for you.  Hope it lasts.

I'm just tying flies for fishing out west (fingers crossed) and listing knives on Ebay.  Everybody is sitting home in much of the country, so I hope they will spend some of that money before inflation gobbles it.

Is this a sports forum?     Mississippi finally approved sports betting last year, and planned on huge profits for the state.  How's that working??  Bummer.

Rain coming here again.  We had sprinkles only yesterday.  LF and I went for a walk (gym is closed).  It was 66 and HUMID; sticky and sweaty.  She walks FAST.

Yeah, I've got to find a new pacle to walk. They officially closed the mall here yesterday. I guess I'll go back to walking the golf course.

Walk in the middle of the fairways, that's the safest area. Wink
