That's an odd ruling. Who has any stake in him not playing?

It is the correct ruling. He did not leave the barn for any hardship reason. The rule is in place to keep kids from transfering at the drop of a hat. If he wanted to play without sitting out a year he had to stay at the barn or transfer to a Div II school.

You are correct, hence, Crowell's plans to go to Alabama State.

I'm glad the NCAA won't let him play. When these players get dismissed from a team it isn't for good conduct. They should have to sit out a year, no matter what level school, for at least a year. Maybe this would help with the choices some of these players are making.

I guess that saves him a year of eligibility when Coach Gus leaves for Arky.

I wasn't aware that Arky State was D1. I think it would be humane to create a list of pathetically delusional D1 schools like Arky State and UAB, to which anyone could transfer and play right away, or at least after their prison term ends. Why not?

Every time a kid sits the bench, gets yelled at by a coach, has a hard practice in August when it is hot or gets his fellings hurt would transfer if this rule was not in place. You can transfer but you must sit out a year. The only option (other than hardship) is to transfer to a Div II school such as North Alabama, Alabama State, etc. It is a good rule IMO.

Hey i concur with AlTide. When it said he couldn't play I thought why not but then it came to my knowledge they were a Div. 1 school. Sure fooled me. This is why I wonder why some schools want Div. 1 status. RTR!
