Texas Tech BB Coach in Big Trouble-UPDATE! AD Responds

This story is unbelievable. And why hasn't he had his butt fired? Plus, now NCAA violations are probably involved.

As Texas Tech coach Billy Gillispie remains in a hospital room with his coaching career in jeopardy, allegations continue to surface about his mistreatment of players, coaches and others in the Red Raiders program.

Sources close to the Texas Tech program told CBSSports.com that Gillispie reneged on several promises to coaches, kept players in scholarship limbo, causing them to miss opportunities and money, and also practiced injured players so severely that they openly wept in practice.

Fifteen players have already left the program prematurely since he took over in March of 2011, with the most recent being highly regarded recruit Wannah Bail, a native of the Bahamas who didn't return after the first summer school session. Bail's summer coach, Terrul Henderson, told CBSSports.com that Bail's departure had nothing to do with academics -- as had been speculated.

The AD talks in circles and keeps emphasizing their academic achievements.

Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt met with the media Wednesday following a reception for new Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby.

While the attention would normally be on the television deal the league is expected to formally announce in the coming days or the Champions Bowl alliance between the Big 12 and the SEC, the focus was squarely on embattled men's basketball coach Billy Gillispie.

But that was different. Daddy James was a big donor, plus the admins did not like Leach. Plus, they can't afford to fire Gillespie since Leach will probably win big money in his lawsuit. Now, do you understand why it's different?

The end is near for Gillespie. Plus, he admitted himself to the hospital for a heart attack, but nothing has been said about this being true.

The Texas Tech athletic director says coach Billy Gillispie is no longer making day-to-day decisions for the basketball program so he can focus on his health.

OOPS!! I just came across this about him.

A spokesman for University Medical Center, where Gillispie earlier spent six days this month, said Gillispie did not come there. A spokeswoman for the other hospital in Lubbock said Gillispie was not brought there.

Gillispie, in a text message to the Associated Press late Tuesday, said he would be treated for high blood pressure "amongst other things," at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
