It helps to know the details of the reworked contract Chizik signed June 9, 2011, as a reward for winning the BCS Championship. It still seems awfully one-sided in Chizik's favor, but about that buyout.

Yes, and if he gets a job (which he's required to look for), the Barn gets to offset the amount of his salary.  Unfortunately, this means we'll probably have to listen to the Chiz on ESPN or another sports show, like we saw Gottfried, Nutt, Tubbs, and many others do.

If Chiz does not win some games he will not be back next season IMO. Going 3-9 will not be enough. He has to win an SEC game or two. The $7.5M buyout is a lot of money. But SEC football is big business. Barn football tickets are not selling out now. Next year will be much worse if Chiz returns. Everyone though Bama paid too much for Saban. It has turned out to be a great investment. In the SEC winning football games means $$$.

Oh crap! I had not even thought of that. Plus, we will be reminded a million times by the sycophant announcers how Chiznik won a NC, but no mention of his beatdowns by Bama or his crummy coaching record. It will be Bill Curry all over again, but worse. I feel sick just thinking of this. Thanks Prothro.

I know the scenario is almost alike but Chizik in my book could never match up to Bill Curry. Curry had one fault he couldn't beat auburn, chizik can't beat nobody now. RTR!
