That's the same advice, Bowden said, he'd given to the many mothers who'd written him over the years seeking advice on how to help their athletic sons who were without a father in their lives.
"Tell your son to get his priorities in order," Bowden related. "No. 1 - God. No. 2 - his family. No. 3 - his education. You can take that to your grave. You can't take football to the grave.
"I was so impressed with these young men," Bowden added, referring to the acceptance speeches of the club's three football players of the week - Murphy's Kameron Maye, Mobile Christian's Logan Grimes and Bryant's Tyren Williams. "Notice all three of them thanked God first. It's what we need in this nation."
