I remember him from when I was a young boy inspiring to be a baseball player
the guy was good , real good in my young eyes .

he held one of the top spots as one of my favorite players up until
Alabama got my attention and life jumped up and bit me ...

RIP Stan the Man ... one of the good guys

Musial took a paycut in 1960 after he dropped below .300 for the first time in 1959. He never made more than the $100,000 he made in 1958 and 1959.

Baseball could use a few more Stan Musials in today's game, he was a great ambasadore for professional baseball. RIP

Quoting liberally from what I heard Tim Kirchin say yesterday... Stan was a superstar before the term was thrown around like it is today.  Playing in the midwest, he was overshadowed by the DiMaggio, Mantle, Mays etc. attention by the press.  He had something like 3600 hits almost exactly 50/50 split between home & road games.

To me he was a great person and a great player.  I'm hard pressed to think of anyone with his skill and class in MLB today.  RIP Stan the Man.

One of the greatest! I used to listen to Cardinal games on KMOX as a kid in North Alabama and Musial always delivered.

I listened to the Cards also but became a Reds fan because WCKY in Cincinnati came in strong in Calhoun County.

My prayers go out to the family. When he turned 92 he has passed all promised years. He was a Blessed man. We will miss you and baseball the way you played. RTR!

Stan Musial was one of my boyhood heros.  I  too, grew up in northwest Alabama and listened to the Cardinals on KMOX.  My Dad was a huge Cardinal Fan and during my growing up years  my family never went to the beach for summer vacation, instead we would go to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals play.  I got to see "Stan the man" play several times during the '50's.

He was before my time, but I have heard of the many exploits and great play of Stan. I have also seen in the later years how much of a gentleman he was, and a great ambassador for the way baseball should be. RIP to "The Man". Also a sad weekend in baseball up here as Orioles nation has lost Earl Weaver. He gets a great deal of attention for being thrown out of so many games, but lost in that stat is that he was a heck'uva manager. RIP, Earl.

Man I didn't know Earl Weaver died. I know I really enjoyed watching him coach. He was a no nonsense guy. The old timers like him who truly run the teams, are almost gone. Prayers to the family and Orioles. RTR!

To them both. Baseball is better because of them.
