Excellent stuff, thanks for posting it. I think pmull said it first, he needs to stay the heck out of Decatur and get rid of all of his "friends" from there.

Rolando McClain felt so full of anger before he walked away from the game that he was worried he would do something he would regret.

"I felt like Aaron Hernandez, like I just wanted to kill somebody," McClain said in an interview for this week's ESPN The Magazine.

[According to the interview, from the moment he signed a contract with the Raiders for a guaranteed $23 million, he became the target of friends and relatives. During a six-month span, he said he spent almost $600,000, mostly on cars, to satisfy requests for money.

Football, McClain says, "was at the bottom of my list." So in May, less than a month after signing with the Ravens, he called GM Ozzie Newsome and told him he was retiring. Newsome tried to dissuade him, arguing that he could help to fill the void left by Ray Lewis. But McClain was -- is -- stubborn. So he quit. Then he cut off most of his old crew and family, telling most of them in person that he was starting a new life without them, before vowing never again to set foot in Decatur. And he returned to Tuscaloosa, hoping to turn back the clock.

Darn good recipe if he can stick with it. I think everybody is pulling for Ro, including me. With that said, he is under a microscope by these very same people. It's the type of thing that can make him explode. He really should take CNS up on his offer for the mental health help.

He's got the right idea but he needs to understand that he needs help, it's very hard to do this all by himself. But I'm guessing that he doesn't trust very many people after all that he has been through. If there is anyone that he might trust enough to help him or get him to the right people that can help him, I think that person would be Nick Saban.

I think everybody on this board is pulling for Ro to succeed. Hard for him to ask for help when there have been so few in his life who could help him.  He's had to find ways to make life work, on his own.  As earlier poster said, hard for him to trust, for similar reasons -- hasn't had people in his life that he could trust.

I will postulate that the damage from his childhood is worse that he realizes.  I hope for his sake that he can get with a good counselor and sort through how that has affected him.  He needs to discover the cause of his anger and underlying pain.  Just MHO.  I'm definitely pulling for the guy.  He's still young enough to deal with this and have a great life.

I hope the young man gets his act together. If it includes going back to football that is great.  Just think what he could convey to kids who, like him, have a lot to overcome.

Did anyone else see RO this past Saturday when the camera panned the team on the sideline?  I'm almost 100% convinced that I got a quick shot of him.  Can't remember when during the game though.

I didn't notice him, but Upshaw and Cody were there (Baltimore had an off week).  There were some others whose NFL schedule allowed it as well.

No, I don't remember the general time.  It was really a quick shot but I mentioned to my 17 y/o daughter that I thought it was him...she didn't see it either...
