Basketball season is upon us. Our first game is a week from today against Oklahoma in Dallas. We play an exhibition game against DII West Georgia on Monday.

Quote
Alabama junior guard Levi Randolph is "getting better" in his recovery from an offseason knee injury, but has yet to practice, coach Anthony Grant said Thursday.

Randolph, who averaged more than 30 minutes and 8 points per game last season, injured his knee in one of Alabama's first fall practices. He was a regular starter during Alabama's trek through Europe in August.

Randolph was initially on crutches following the injury, but was recently seen walking without assistance.

"We really don't have any other updates in terms of his status," Grant said. "For us it's been a process of making sure we get our guys physically where we need to be as we approach the upcoming season."

I've said it before, I prefer he gets 100% healthy than try to use him when he is 80-90% better. If that means we can't use him until the middle of January, so be it.

I agree about Levi. I think Algie Key is a similar type of player that help fill Levi's spot until he can return ready to go 100%. Levi is a good player because of his effort. At 85-90% he would be average at best.

It just registered with me the season is only one week away.

All this talk about BB got me interested in refreshing my memory about certain players. Shannon Hale, a 6'8" recruit won a 3-point shooting contest at one of those BB camps the kids attend. Wouldn't that be nice to have a big man with an outside shot. Plus, Jimmy Taylor, a 6'10" recruit is a cousin of Erwin Dudley, a really good big man who played for Bama. He has a sister in the Army, so it seems he has a solid family background, another good sign. Algie Key sounds somewhat like a Levi Randolph type of player, not afraid to play inside if necessary. I really am looking forward to this BB season.

I think we are going to see a more traditional look with two big men in the line up allowing Randolph and Cooper to play their natural position. Jacobs will be much more effective if he is not the only big man in the game.

They think Shannon Hale can stretch the defense by playing inside at 6-8 and going outside to hit a 3 pointer. Jimmy Taylor is the best looking big man recruit we have had JaMyckal Green.

Hey starting with West Georgia huh. Well that team is about 20 miles from me at Carrollton, Ga. They use to be a big power in their conference every year. I don't know now, because I quit keeping up with them several years ago. RTR!

I hate that I won't get to see many of the games. Unfortunately, the basketball team won't get as much national game time as the football team will. Does anyone know of any stations that broadcast the games online, or do all of the CTSN stations do football and basketball? And does Chris Stewart still do play-by-play?

BAMAWV used to watch all the games that were not televised in his area on ESPN3.

I'm with you on that I don't think CAG will risk a season ending injury by not waiting until he is fully ready to play. Bama plays at a very fast pace and anything less than 100% ready wouldn't help the team that much. CAG was worried about the lateral or side motion of his knee being the big issue.
